I bought a month-long membership to wdwmagic.com and came across something called project gemini. Has anyone ever heard of this?? This text is directly cut and paste from the site:

Further to the info below, there is very recent news to indicate that there remains a core of 3 projects for Epcot's rehab.

-Rehab of Spaceship Earth. This new attraction, as hard as it is to believe, is being talked about as being a "coaster". It's budget is in excess of that for Rock n Roller Coaster.
-A DCA Soarin' Clone
-An unspecified third attraction

The budgets are around the $100 million mark for each, with the Spaceship Earth project having the largest of the three.

Opening dates remain around late 2006.

The likelihood of the above opening, will depend to some extent on the success of Mission Space opening this year.

The concept of the project is a mass rebranding of Epcot, to inject the excitement back that the park once had. The much rumored splitting of the park into 2 separate gates appears to be unlikely at this stage. The grand reopening of the park is set to be December 2006, however parts of the new project will open before that time.

Two signature attractions for the new Epcot are a Soarin' Over attraction from DCA, and another ETicket attraction called "Time Racers".

Thoughts on this???

Well Soarin is already at Epcot. The ride is located in the Land pavilion. It's a great ride.

Sounds like a old article. Mission Space has had over 8 million people ride it.

Imagineering had these plans a few years back. It was much larger than just adding attractions. They wanted to re-brand Epcot, adding much more landscaping, trees, etc.

They project, in total, never took off. However, you are seeing some aspects of it showing up piece by piece. It is only my opinion, but I think you will see some more changes to be completed around the time of Epcot's 25th anniversary in 2007.

Yup. Project Gemini caused a big stir among the Disney geeks. Time Racers was scrapped because the ride system within Spaceship Earth was integral to the support of the structure, and it would have cost way too much to do it.
