Program for removing face shine?

I had been thinking about getting PhotoShop Elements (not sure which version) for scrapbooking. Does anyone know if this or another program will remove facial shine?

Thanks!

I think I know what you're talking about. Sometimes when you take a picture of someone for some reason (moist skin, the way the flash reflects off their skin) you get what appears as "shiny spots" on the picture.
Alas, I do not know of any editing software that can remove that or the sometimes glare of someone wearing glasses.
If there is something I hope we both find out!

In PSE I've used the clone stamp and healing brush with some success. Kind of depends on how large the shiny area is--it's mostly just noses and foreheads.

I know you can do it is the full PS program, I am guessing it can be done in elements as well.

Search the web for it, there are several actions that can be had that will work on it for you.

It might help if you post an example. Lowering the highlights might lower the effect some, but it would not remove it.

For the future, consider a circular polarizer filter to reduce glare if that is what you are talking about.

Wouldn't the healing brush in PS do this? If you can use it to remove lines, blemishes and scars, you should be be to take a little shine off...

The only tool I'm aware of that works is this one:

Seriously, shine is a blown out highlight. It's pretty hard to correct because the detail is gone so it's hard to restore it.

Nice suggestion, but somehow my forehead still ends up shiny. :lmao: You'd think at 40 my skin might start to dry out.

That's why the only thing that's worked for me is the healing brush or clone stamp. If the shiny area is large, it's difficult to make it look natural, so it doesn't work very well on close ups, although someone with more advanced PS skills could no doubt do a better job than I.

:offtopic:
I love my BE!! I keep waiting for my skin to dry up too!! You'd think that once a woman was past 40 God would give a little and lighten up on the "shine" factor!!!:rotfl2: But noooooo --- it's like puberty all over, only on the down hill side!!!;)
Blessings and pass the Mineral Veil!!:goodvibes
