Has anyone ever used Disney's professional photographers to take a family portrait at any DVC locations? I would like one done at Wilderness Lodge. Is there a good location that we could request?

Hi! We are a family of four and had this done over Christmas at WL. We had about 38 pictures at various locations.....just out the back of the lobby on a small porch, by the Christmas tree in the atrium of the villas, by the water fall outside and then a few candid shots of our DSs. Our photographer was game for anything and asked more than once if we wanted any other backgrounds.

We are very pleased at the result and glad we did it. We received all 38 or so 5X5 proofs and a portfolio that held about 12 of them.

Remember that DVC members get a 10% discount.

PM me if you have any other questions!

Thank you for your response. Did you get the proofs right away, or did they send them to you? How much time did it take?

Our home resort is BWV, but we honeymooned at WL so it has a very special meaning to us. Plus, it's our first choice for DVC vacations! We'll be there 3/30-20th. Thank you again!

I know this is a little less conventional but there is a GREAT charicature artist at the VWL named Marco. DBF and I just had our first DVC trip home (VWL is our home resort) and on the last night we decided to have it done. I figured what the heck.

It came out really amazing. My head is on Tinkerbell's body and DBF's is on Peter Pan's body and we're flying over the Wilderness Lodge. I originally thought it was just going to be one more thing I'd bring home and shove in a drawer, but I'm going to have it framed and hang it on the wall.

Just a thought if you were looking for something fun and different.

PalVal.....They posted the photos on their website in about 10 days. We received the photos in the mail in about 2.5 weeks. (they said it would take a month)

We choose WL because like you, it has very special memories for us!

I'm curious as to what they charge -- anyone care to devulge? I'm wondering cuz I'm a photographer and I always like to see what others are charging. I'm assuming Disney is expensive??

Disney Photographic Services charges a $275 sitting fee for a 1 hour, on location, photo shoot. This fee also includes all of the 5X5 proofs taken during the sitting. Our family had this done after Christmas this past year at OKW. We received a price list for our enlargements, with our proofs. I would be happy to share some of those prices as well if you'd like.

If you wouldn't mind....I'd be very interested in the prices of the prints. Were you happy with the pics?

Pam

Will they include pictures with Characters? I'd love to get some done and we are thinking about it for our next trip. Does it have to be at a resort or can it be at a park?

I'd also like some bigger pictures, so would love to know the price ranges of reprints.

Is there information on this at the Disney site? I looked but didn't see anything.

I do not believe there is anything on the website about Disney Photography. I heard about it through my DVC membership and there have been several threads on these boards over the past year or so about it. You can have your photo shoot in some parks, MK & Epcot for sure, I don't think they shoot at MGM and not sure about AK. There are wedding package rates that include characters, don't know about family portraits with characters. I'm sure there would be a considerably higher charge for characters. As to the reprint pricing, Packages range from $75 for 2/8X10, 8 wallets, 2 5X7 to $325 for 2/11X14, 2 8X10. The ala carte portrait pricing which includes retouching of the portrait and mounting on the larger sizes range from 4X5 $30, 5X7 $40, 16X20 (mounted) $165, 24X30 (mounted) 275. These portraits can also be done on an artist canvas for an additional 50%. There is also reprint pricing from the proofs which does not include cropping or retouching which starts at $12/4X5, $20/5X7, $30/8X10, $55/11X14, up to $250/30X40.

We had our photos taken on 1/3 and they were posted online in a little over a week. I received the proofs Fed Ex about a week later. They are very nice. I had orignally hoped for outside shots at OKW, and we tried, but it was a windy & cold that day and the outside shots all have hair out of place and not very pleasant expressions. The inside shots in the OKW lobby are wonderful. I wish we had done them all inside instead of trying to brave the cold & wind.
