Hey, are you guys coming down to disney early? My PI starts June 14th and I'm planning on leaving two days before hand. Is June 14th the first day we can move into Northbridge? Does anyone know when we start work? I haven't heard anything from my recruiter in a long time, so I'm kind of in the dark!

I'm definitely coming down early, but not sure how early yet. I'm going to St Pete Beach before to visit my 2 friends who live down there. I might drive to Orlando the morning of the 14th or just go the night before and get a hotel room. I know what you mean about not hearing anything (actually I'm relieved that I'm not the only one). I even emailed my recruiter Monday morning, but haven't gotten a reply yet.

Im arriving on the 31st and was supposed to have 2 weeks of freedom (aka buy a car and find an apartment etc) but they are starting me a week early on the 7th...

My recruiter has been wonderful and in t minus 2 weeks Ill be there!

I have been living in Florida recently. I'm returning to Florida (Miami) on the 11th, then driving up to Orlando on the 13th. It is kinda weird that they only tell us on a need-to-know basis. But it also makes things kinda exciting!

I'm really interested in meeting girls (and guys) online who are going to be living at NorthBridge (ok, that sounded kinda weird...like a pickup, but its not), so maybe a group of us can check-in together and get the same apartment. Sooo...if you are interested, get in touch with me.

I'm starting my trek from Illinois on june 9th, stopping to see family in NC and hopefully arriving in Orlando on june 11. Anyone know if we can move into Northbridge early?

I will be working with the Animal Programs Division (Information Managment) starting June 14th. I also will be staying at Northbridge, which I hope is better than the reviews.

As of June 2005 (When I did my PI) you could not move into Northbridge early. The day listed on your check in date is the date they will have you move in. There are other PI's living in those apartments and management needs time to check the apartments to ***** any damages and clean up whatever needs to be cleaned before you move in. That is why you cannot move in early. Have a blast on your internship!!!

I'll be working in the Animal Programs division, too, but as an education presenter. What are your job responsibilities?? Just curious.

I'll be working with the Animal Research & Technology Department where I'll be assisting with data collection and providing tech support to Animal Program Cast Members. I will also be developing and presenting multimedia data for Animal documentation.

That seems really cool!

As a warning to all of the new professional interns. STAY AWAY FROM NORTHBRIDGE HOUSING. Sure the website is prettied up but do some research of your own on google. It will tell you that the housing has been rated at ONE STAR AND it is WELFARE HOUSING. I had the horrors of living there last year. Disney roped me in and I wish I had known better. The apts actual cost to rent are 1,100.00 total for a 2 bedroom. Disney is charging you 500 per month to SHARE a bedroom. They make over 1,000 profit from each apt. You are basically paying your own paycheck. The people who live in welfare hosuing are always lurking around playing loud music and all 500 of there kids are always in the pool and hot tubs late at night. Friends tires were slashed,I was mugged, and my friends apt was robbed two times. Don't even think about using the fitness center- as it is discusting. My internship was also made out to be something much better than what it was. Disney loves cheap labor and that is what we provided little knowing. My advice to all you soon to be interns......RUN FAR AWAY! DO ANYTHING ELSE! ANYTHING! And if you do do it, do not live at Northbridge or you will be crying for 6 months.

I am sorry to hear you had such a horrible experience at Northbridge. When I lived there for my PI there were some problems, but nothing that turned me off so much from the apartment complex. Yeah it was difficult to get ahold of the office staff, but they fixed anything within a week of us getting in contact with them.

The College Program staff (Cast Members in charge of the PI program) will gladly show you the breakdown of where your rent goes to. Most of it goes into programs/amenities for the interns.

I loved my time at Northbridge, and on my Professional Internship. This is just my take on my experience, but i can't wait to go back and work for Disney again (whenever that may be).

Disneyisaslavedriver, why don't you tell us how you really feel? Well that's a bummer you had such a crappy time, but your bad experience seems to be an exception to most of the positive experiences I've read about on here and other websites. I'm still pretty optimistic about the whole deal and I hope everyone else leaving for the PI soon will be too.

Thank you dwtootles and Liverstealer! I was disheartened to read that post but I'm not taking it to heart. I have a close friend who did the same PI as I will be doing and although she admits that NorthBridge wasn't the best, she loved doing the internship and actually got it extended another full year. So I am as excited as ever to start!!

Wow. I can't believe anyone would write something like that in the first place. I mean, if you hated your Disney experience so much, why are you even on this message board??

Anyway, a little while ago (maybe a week or two) I finally got an email from my Disney recruiter about arrival information for the P.I. I was getting a little nervous since I hadn't heard anything in a long time and I never got a packet. Anyway, it turns out that check-in is exactly like the college program and it seems like CPs and PIs all check-in together at Vista Way. *Sigh* Ahh, memories. It's now offically a week until I leave and 9 days until I'm down there.

Oh, I have a question to throw out there. Does anyone know what size the beds are at Northbridge? Twin, Full? I have to get some new sheets if it's a twin :guilty: .

Another question. Does anyone know if PIs have to go through Traditions again? I'm just kind of wondering what the PIs will be doing their first week there (Thurs and Fri), like, if we have to go through training or orientations or meetings, what not. Need to be prepared to wear the Disney Look and all! :goodvibes

I can't believe you would be so naive as to not want to know the real deal about your new job "ahem" internship and hellhole housing you are about to move into. Northbridge beds are twin btw and have fun sleeping 2 feet away from a stranger.

Disnyisaslavedriver, what was your internship and why did it not satisfy you? I am really curious to see what you say. Also, how do you explain how some people don't seem to mind NorthBridge as much as you do?

Gee... I bet that's something people on these boards are REALLY concerned about... considering 90 percent have lived in college dorms.

hellhole housing

Once again... I guarantee that they won't be even close to as bad as some of the places that we've lived in at college. Even if my apartment looks like the one on the website, only trashed, it would still be nicer than where I lived last year. I know someone living at Northbridge right now and she told me that it's nicer than she thought it would be... and the only pictures she saw of the place were from the website.

That was the problem. Everyone was so immature and "college like" who lived there. I was expecting a much more professional crowd. I never lived in a college dorm because of the kind of kids who live in them. I worked hard to rent a private bedroom in an apt in NYC and it was much nicer than that one. My bad opinion of the apts comes from the crime that took place when I was there, and the "non disney" low income housing people who you will have to deal with. Worse than my Harlem NYC neighbors.

Ahh I see, so disneyisaslavedriver is basically insanely pretentious and hates "those immature college kids". Just because he doesn't agree with how other people live doesn't make it wrong, different strokes for different folks and all that.
