Last time we were at the Fort, we noticed people having their MH's cleaned and detailed while they were gone. Has any one had this service done before and how much does it cost?

I'm sure someone will be along with a name or number of a company.

Let me say that this has been discussed many times. Everyone has their own opinion of course. I for one..think Disney should have a specific area to have this service performed (as I understand there is a calling for it), instead of at your site.
I personally wouldn't want to disturb my fellow campers by having this done on vacation. It is a camping resort..and not everyone is at the parks. Some choose to enjoy their site and their outdoor surroundings. The drone of a power washer can put a damper on doing so.
I've never stayed in a campground where you were permited to clean your rig....unless you were seasonal. Even then, we were restricted as to the days and times it could be done so as not to interfer with the camping experience of fellow paying campers.

We had a company do our 5th wheel last summer when we were there. I think it was called Amazing Detailing. We seen them in our loop doing several others so I stop to see what they charged. It was $300 for our 5th wheel and they also did the truck too for that price. It took them most of the day but they were doing several that day in the loop.

They started by washing the trailer and truck. They let it dry and then came back and waxed both and did a treatment on the rubber roof.

They were very professional and did an outstanding job. I spoke with the owner and told him I was surprised that Disney allowed them in. He said they actually have a very good working relationship with Disney as long as they follow some basic rules including working only during certain times of the day.

We are going to have do our trailer again this year when we are there.

Auntie, could not have said it any better!!!! Who want's to drive 1400mi. and listen to a power washer from hell while the guy next door has his rig cleaned, I for one don't, And I for one have already been down this road before some time ago, I have no problem keeping my rig washed and waxed (I do it myself) and I under stand not everybody wants and likes to do that kind of thing but shame on disney for letting somebody come in on my camp time and turning the place into a car/camper wash!!!! Be respectful take your camper off site and have it washed you may have people next door that don't want to hear the noise. Train and boat horns and kids playing = good power washers:mad: One other thing next time you pay the guy are you paying with a check or cash and is it made out to him or the company if it's made out to him or cash the IRS would like to have there cut as well, The last time I asked that question sombody said they check on how they wrote the check out but I never herd back so that tells me it was made out to him! I don't like to pay taxes any more than the next guy but if I have to pay them so does everybody else! sorry for the rant but this is a very touchy subject with me power washing/and not paying your fare share! :confused3

I dont like the power washers either and I dont think I would appreciate the spray from a neighbors site. unfortunately I havent found anywhere near FW that has the room to wash an RV. When we arrive in the winter our trailer is usually a big mess and covered with salt. I bring a brush and do a quick wash before we set up. I dont like washing at the site and it really isnt loud or obtrusive, If there was a better option I would use it.

I'm with Disbuf on this one.

Most folks are gone most of the day to the parks. Yes, some people go to the Fort just to hang out at the Fort. But arguing about this detail service being done is akin to me arguing about people who take up campground space when they're booked solid but don't even go to the parks.

Maybe the Fort could make sure detailing could be done on only one day of the week per loop. At least this way, you wouldn't hear pressure washers everyday.

Arguing about whether they pay taxes is a stretch. We don't know their setup so why even throw that in?

This is a great point.:thumbsup2

Near Ocean Lakes at Myrtle Beach, there's a car wash with a bay big enough for RVs. We've washed the salt off our TT when returning home and if I had to drive through a bunch of "mess" headed to the Fort, I'd love the idea of hitting a similar car wash before I arrive. Just put it right there off I-4 near the Disney exits. Heck, this may already exists.

If not, sounds like the perfect business opportunity here. Somebody?

Respectfully,:flower3: you make my point. Meaning that it took them most of the day..and they were doing several others in your loop that day.
Now imagine you're the guy who went camping. This is your one week off a year. You spent you're time listening to the constant drone of power washers. :headache:

I'm quite sure they have a good working relationship with Disney. I'm also sure there's something in it for Disney...and it isn't good will. Possibly $$$$ in their pocket. :rolleyes1
Otherwise, Disney wouln't be looking to keep the off site golf cart rental companies off their property. It's about the bottom line...people are willing to pay for the service, and until it effects Disney's pockets the policy is not likely to change. :sad2:
Again, I honestly understand the desire and need to have this service performed. Yet, it seems inconsiderate to those that enjoy the camping experience. :guilty:
Imagine if you will..you're in a Deluxe room at the WL or the Poly.:beach: On either side of your room and down the hall for 6 rooms, they're steam cleaning the carpets and steaming the walls. This continues on all day. Not a big deal, because it's day time, and likely( :confused3) the one guest in that middle room will be at the park. :rolleyes1
Well, not us. We always spend time enjoying the resort. Which means sitting out on our balcony, enjoying breakfast or room service. This is something that just wouldn't happen in a resort.
Folks camp for the outdoor experience. They want to bring their pets..they enjoy sleeping in their own beds. They enjoy nature. They may even want to sleep in, or enjoy sitting outside in a hammock. Not all visitors to FW are at the parks during the day. In fact during summer months we only visit the parks in the evening.
Yes, I know it's permitted..and it's done. It's my opinion that perhaps it's time FW started hearing in DROVES from those who oppose this practice. If they wanted to, Disney could easily accomodate both sides to this issue. They could designate an area where those requesting this service could bring their rigs by appointment without disturbing the camping experience of others. :thumbsup2

Let me clarify when I say it took most of the day. They actually were not at our site that long. Maybe 45 minutes washing it and then maybe an hour or so waxing it. Most of the time they were letting the trailer dry.

I definitely can understand how this might annoy someone else however there are plenty of other things at FW that people do that annoy us but we tolerate it. It's just part of being in close quarters.

As for taxes being paid I would not have a clue however I can tell you that I paid with a credit card and the receipt that they printed had the company's name on it so I would have to assume they are running legit business.

We would not have had our trailer washed if Disney did not allow it. Based on how many people get their units washed that we have seen while we are there, it appears to be a very popular service.

This is a sore point with me as well. We have a big rig and we go to the Fort once a year for ten days at Christmas and stay in a premium loop (where you find a few more big rigs compared to the other loops). Last year, almost every single day, the detailers were working in our loop (800) or 600 or 900 and we could hear those pressure washers running non-stop.

We only went to the parks 4 out of the 10 days and when we go to the parks we go late in the day around 5 or 6. The rest of the time we are sleeping in, enjoying the Fort and lounging around our campsite which is why we camp in the first place.

I went to the front office to complain about the constant noise and was told that Disney allows the detail company to be there but if they are a nuisance to anyone Disney would ask them to leave. I asked her "so I have to come to the front office every single day of my vacation and complain and then you will ask them to leave." :confused3 She said yes. I just shook my head and walked away.

I did write a letter and sent an email about my complaints. I received an email back saying that my complaint was being addressed.

FYI when we left Disney we headed to Lazy Days where we had an appointment to have our rig washed, waxed and carpets cleaned. Disney is definitely missing the boat on this. All they need to do is build an area for RV washing and on your first day or last day of vacation you make an appt to have your rig washed. This way no one has to break up camp in the middle of their vacation to take their motorhomes to be washed. Most importantly, everyone else who is camping at the Fort, and who has paid a hefty price to be there, gets to enjoy the peace and quiet of camping. Isn't that what it's all about?

We all need to continue to complain and hopefully, one day, Disney will wake up. ;)

The noise really bugs me as well. I have no problem with anyone washing or having their rig washed or waxed by hand but the pressure washers and electric buffers should be banned. Fortunately, I stay most of the time in the partial hook up loops and not many tent or popup people feel the need to have thier rig detailed. But you can hear them off in the distance, even in the 2000 loop. The detailing people have to be giving Disney a cut, otherwise I don't see why Disney allows them.

I totally agree..Disney is getting a cut. ::yes::They don't do anything out of the goodness of their hearts. It's $$$'s all the way. That's why it's allowed to continue. That's why a camper would have to go every day of their stay and complain for them to do something about it...maybe. :sad2: Then apparently, they "yes" you to death. They figure eventually you'll give up, and the company will move to another loop, where it becomes some other poor schmo's problem. :rolleyes1

Now, if they didn't rent their own golf carts, and the outside rentals that deliver to your site would give them a cut, they'd have no issues with those guys either. Since the outside rentals cut into their own cart business, they want to make it as difficult as possible to bring in a cart from another rental company. The detail companies make it so that Disney looks the other way. Cha-ching. :rolleyes1

I also am NOT for this, but would have no problem if they just used a hose rather than a pressure washer.

BTW it's also better for your rig,the high pressure is not good for your stickers.

cool, so I won;t have to wash my Tahoe in partial hook up myself?
Cause after 2000+ miles in 48hours (mostly at night) it is going to be bug-nasty and need major cleaning, and 'electric buffing' is a key part of any decent wash n wax. I'm not worried about the pop up, just protecting my vehicle from sap, bird droppings, bug guts and other paint killers... I am sure others feel the same after investing 10x that into an RV.

If i get a chance, as a courtesy I'll unhook the trailer and run thru a car wash before hitting the park, but if not I apologize in advance for taking advantage of the service. It sounds good to me.

1: I don't want everyone getting filthy every day as they access the vehicle interior where I will be storing everything, and

2: I can't stand a dirty vehicle. Dirt = damage & devaluation.

Auntie, et al: I am sorry the noise in the daytime disturbs you, why not head out to the theme parks or some other local attraction, the beach, the pool...
Buffers etc are just white/background noise unless you CHOOSE to be upset about it. I assure you Auntie, you can hear the vacuum cleaners going nonstop in hotels in Vegas. :) Heck, Turn on your roof mount a/c, that'll drown out those pesky buggers!

If all you want is pure quiet camping, there are many State Parks that might be more your speed. Santa Rosa Island is one that springs to mind. :) The quietest loops don't even permit recreational vehicles or electricity, just tent camping.

Not looking to tent camp..not looking for state parks. We have camped many times and we camp for the most part..in camping resorts. We enjoy the amenities that they offer. Full hook ups, and cable.
I haven't run across a bug that a hose and some elbow grease couldn't get rid of.
I don't see the need to have go inside on a perfectly nice day and run our a/c, so as to avoid what to you may be white noise...while to me is a PITA.
I appreciate your recommendations for places for us to camp. Bless your heart.

We have never had this done at the Fort.
Mainly for the simply reason that I have better things to do with my money then ruin other folks hard earned vacation hav'n my camper cleaned with power washers and power polishers while I am at the park/out some where else.
The cost ? I'm pretty sure it starts some where round $1200.00 :confused3

just my opinion.

DITTO TO ALL THE "DON'T LIKE, HATE IT", ETC, ETC. Had to listen to the pressure washer for over 40 minutes.

Stopped at a truck wash on the way to the FORT, had the MH and toad washed for $60.00 took about 20 minutes.

I'm with you and almost all the CGs outside of FW specifically prohibit you from washing your vehicles at your site. Disney definitely has a sweet hart deal going on here.

Shoot auntie, all the years I grew up tent camping I had your complaint about all the folks with their dang noisy RV a/c's.

We used to call em cricket campers. :) Now I am one. :woohoo:

I understand how you feel, but I only addressed you directly because you had some alternate ideas and not merely a diatribe.

I hope y'all can forgive the rest of us for preferring to hire a pro and their crew to get it done in a couple of hours while we enjoy our vacations, instead of spending 4 hours or more washing and buffing and waxing ourselves.

Anyway, god bless all of y'all.

Does anyone have the contact info for the detail guys?
