What, I guess that from what I can see from reading this entire thread is that
1) if your new to the board, your "mocked" and called names by the more "experienced posters"
2) You can't give out information unless you want to be subjected to ridicule and flaming
3) You can't express an opinion, different or opposing views, or you'll be mocked and ridiculed.

Great Board!! Glad I signed on to read and witness this abhorrent behavior.
Very welcoming indeed!

Fulltimerver,

You have stumbled onto a thread that is much like the current debate on National Health Care...you are either hotly on one side or the other...not much room to sit on the fence. There are those primarily from bad winter weather areas who want there rigs cleaned for several reasons, and those who have come to enjoy the quiet serenity usually offered at the Fort. What's the saying? Your rights end where mine are imposed on? "They" have a right to get their rigs cleaned. "We" have a right to a quiet and dry campsite. "They" have alternative locations for cleaning. "We" have paid for a peaceful environment to relax in.

:confused3 Until WDW comes up with an answer, such as banning mobile washers or making a washing-only loop, it will continue to be an inflamatory topic....ranking up there with "people who rent tent site and don't use them".

You will find there are MANY topics we agree on, or at least poke fun at each other on. You will find here is MUCH great information available here, often better and more useful than official Disney info. So come and enjoy the Forum. :thumbsup2 Come and enjoy the Fort. :hippie: Come and enjoy the DISers. :cool1::cool1:

While I totally agree with your sentiments..I seriously doubt a first time poster happened to simply stumble upon this thread ...:rolleyes1

There are thousands of helpful, informative, fun loving threads on this site and you make this as your first post?

I come to camping from boating. My wife gets seasick so we took up rving. It is completely normal to get you boat cleaned at ANY marina. Is it annoying when a team of guys with sanders shows up to spend a few days sanding the brightwork of the boat next to yours? Yes, but I would think nothing of it. Does someone occasionally get their motor worked on in the slip and it belches diesel exhaust and loud noises? Yes! The key is no one has unrealistic ideas of how quiet it should be. If you want serene quiet, anchor out. If you require a totally silent campsite with nothing but the sounds of nature, boondock! Until then, if someone spends 25 minutes with a power washer at the fort, get over it.The fort is barely a campground. it is more of an RV resort with a few campsites.

I am one to complain about campgrounds. I haver never had a complaint about the fort. A pressure washer running all day might bother me, but 30 minutes at a time, it no skin off my back. Besides, don't they cut the grass at the other resorts? Don't the housekeepers vaccum?

I agree completely except I think they should ban any landscape/lawn maintenance work and laundry line hanging if they ban detailing.!:thumbsup2

That is the point..it isn't for 30 minutes at a pop and get over it.
It's all day, because often these companies are cleaning your rig..and then another, and another. No one is complaining about 30 mintues of white noise. It takes a couple of hours to power wash/wax the rig and truck for a cost of some $300.00.
I too have camped for the most part in only camping resorts. We like the amenities that resorts offer. Full hook ups, cable, pools, transportation to local tourist attractions. I've never been to a camping resort that permitted this.
We were seasonal for three years in Saratoga, NY, and another 3 years in Lake George NY. Both tourist areas, with amusement attractions(Six Flags)..water parks, outlet shopping, race track, and the like. One of them very much reminds me of FW. In that it's entirely paved, there was transportation to all the local attractions. If I didn't know better, I'd think they modeled the resort after FW. Both of these resorts had restrictions even for their seasonal campers as to when we could clean our rigs.
Nightly guests...NO WAY....ever. It was on your check in information that it was not permitted.
Oh..and no laundry lines permitted either. Seems if they allowed you to line dry towels...the next guy had his BVD's hangin' out to dry. They finally said no to all clothes lines. No mowers or weed wackers were allowed to be used on Fri., Sat. or Sunday at any time. Weekdays only between hours of 12 pm to 3 pm. That's it. If you couldn't get there to mow your site between those times, the park would do it for you at a minimal cost. Most of these rules were in place so as not to disturb nightly campers who came to enjoy the outdoor experience. They were an incovenience to us seasonal campers, but we understood, that while we might have an entire season to enjoy the resort, most guests were only there for a few nights..maybe a week. It wasn't right to ruin much needed, precious vacation time.

The first time this became a bother was in Jan 08, they were there everyday all day running power washers and buffers. Not only cleaning some big rigs but their toads, it was an all day project, everyday. We were not there to do parks that week since we had done the parks in Oct. We were there for the sun and relaxation. We got the sun. That was a long drive and a lot of $ to listen to noise all day.

This could make one think that it is a popular service on property if that many people are getting it done.

Phyllis is it too early for a glass of wine?

2) You can't give out information unless you want to be subjected to ridicule and flaming

I have to agree. The only reason I originally posted was because someone asked for the information so I was trying to be helpful. Never meant to create such a negative thread nor do I suppose did the person who originally asked the question.

Although I don't post all the time, I have been a member of the DIS boards since 2000 so I am not someone who just joined to get people riled up. I usually only post when I feel like I have something to contribute.

I too have some very strong feelings on this subject and others but I am not going to post them because I don't want to get into an online argument over things that I don't control and I don't want to end up being made into a bad person on here. I enjoy coming in and staying up to date on information and contributing when and where I feel I can. Enough said.

It is a popular service and one I really like. I have had mine done and the power washer is NOT going for more than 30 minutes or so per rig and generally each rig takes 3 to 4 hours to do a complete detail. I know this because I own a 39' fiver. Once they are done washing and if you paid to have it waxed/buffed then they perform that service. It is the waxing/buffing that takes a couple of hours or more...NOT the power washing.

Granted, I have only spent a total of 3 weeks at the Fort in the past 2 years, but I have yet to be there when the whole loop decided to get cleaned on the same day. Maybe they should use electric power washers a they seem quieter? I hope that when I get there on Monday that it is not rig cleaning rig in my loop. Maybe Disney, in order to cater to the high end motor coach crowd allows the cleaning service? How many Prevost owners clean their own coach? I know that amongst the yachting crowd, people who own the biggest nicest boats, do not do their own cleaning. Those boats also tend to get some cleaning done almost everyday.

I know if I had a 2-3 million dollar rig, I'd want it to be really clean. We do not camp anywhere besides Fort Wilderness and Beaver Stadium that have so many high end motorhomes. But when I do see one of them, they are almost always clean.

If Disney thought they could fill 1200 sites with only 500k and up motorhomes, they would because those people spend more. How do the motorhomes at luxury rv parks get clean? I am sure that their owners are not up on the roof with a bucket and mop twice a week. All Disney cares about is the money. Its like thinking that a friendly exotic dancer values more than your wallet to think otherwise. Unless RV washing hurts their bottom line, they will continue to allow it. last time I checked, the place is always full and always very expensive. I guess it works for them.
