"Professional" cameras at Disney World?

My wife and I are taking our two young children on our first Disney adventure this weekend for 4 days. I am also a serious photographer (though amateur) and was planning on bringing my DSLR and some good glass, 70-200 and a wide angle. Will I have any trouble shooting landscape and action pictures of the rides inside the parks? I've heard references of paranoid Disney security that have confronted people taking pictures inside the parks. Any advice or guidance is appreciated!

Those problems have centered at Disneyland in CA. You should have no problems, especially since you are traveling with family.

I didn't have any problems and I didn't notice anyone having any problems on my last trip. Just be aware that a few attractions say no pictures or no flash photography. There are signs on those though and they make it really clear.

People have also had problems with Security at Downtown Disney; but it's not very common. But I've never heard of any problems in the actual parks. Heck, I've done photowalks with people who have gear like yours... AND MORE!!!! So no worries at all.

Not likely any problems at all in Disney World. I go there often, and have been known to bring a large camera backpack, tripod, DSLR, and big, white 300mm F4 lens, setting up with wired shutter release and taking minutes to get a particular shot - never had an issue.

Even in Downtown Disney, I've not experienced any issues - leave any negative or confrontational attitude at home, cooperate nicely with any questions, and you'll likely not have any problems even if security does come up and talk to you.

This is the best advice

And if the signs don't make it clear, they WILL yell at you over the loud speaker in the middle of the ride on Star Tours. Not that I know..

I swear I didn't see any signs restricting photo/video.

Didn't the Star Tours pre-boarding video say no photos or video? If I remember the video correctly, some kid takes a flash picture of Chewbacca, which blinded him & made him scream. That was supposed to demonstrate why no photos or videos during Star Tours.

Am I remembering this right?

You remember correctly.
