Products you can't find anymore

The Vermont Country Store carries a lot of products that are hard to find including candy, clothing and toiletries. :thumbsup2

:worship: I was actually going to post how much I miss "Gee Your Hair Smells Terrific" shampoo. I used it as a kid/pre-teen. And there it was right on the front page !! You are my new best friend :goodvibes

Cornsilk face powder (I can find it now & then on eBay)

Windex Multi Purpose Antibacterial - the yellow one, not the white vinegar one (I can stil find that one!)

I just bought Mrs. Grass's dry soup mix (with the nugget!) in the box last month at Giant grocery store. I'll have to check if it's still on the shelves when I go back next week!

How about Love's Baby Soft, Jean Nate bath splash (was that in a huge yellow bottle?) and Enjoli perfume...."I can bring home the bacon, fry it up in a pan..." how did that go???

Do you have a Big Lots near you? They carry Cornsilk in both pressed and loose powder versions. Only around $3 too! It is the only stuff I use. They also carry Love's Baby Soft perfume. I'm not sure if all year, but always during the holidays in those box sets.

Fudge drippers. The last time I saw them was in the early 90s.

And back in the early 80s I used to get these granola bars, granola on the outside and the inside a caramel nougat type filling. They were the same shape as Kashis nut roll product.

A few years ago I could buy a spaghetti sauce (Ragu maybe?) that you could pour over uncooked noodles and bake...maybe it was called Pasta No Bake??? I can't find it anymore.

I miss this, too! It was Prego Pasta Bake. One box of uncooked ziti, one jar of Pasta Bake, and one jar of water. Throw it all in a casserole dish and bake. So convenient.

I think it's sad my kids can't experience the fun of getting a toy in a cereal box! I know it was junk stuff, but the feeling when it dropped into your cereal bowl was the best!
They just had Kung Fu Panda 2 toys in Kellogg's cereal.

I miss Betty Crocker Cherry Chip cake mix and frosting.

Blue lemonade Kool Aid (not raspberry)

Mr. Clean Magic Reach refill pads. Local stores do no carry them.

Buf-Puf facial sponges. I have to order then online. Hate paying for shipping

Heath candy bars. I know they still have them, but are very hard to find here.

You can bake uncooked pasta with any jarred sauce and water and it will cook in the oven. I make lasagna all the time with plain uncooked lasagna noodles, 2 jars of Ragu and some water (and all the other ingredients...). I just add a little more seasoning to make it spicier.

I used to love the original formula Herbal Essences shampoo (the emerald green one with the drawing of the hippie chick on the label)- Body On Tap shampoo also.

There was a really good candy bar by Nestle, I think- it was caramel and chocolate, and was braided and open-looking? Bad description, I know.

"... and never, never, never let you forget you're a man. I'm a woman. Enjoli." :teeth:

My discontinued product list seems to keep growing. So far I have:

Albuterol - the asthma med. in the old inhalers. They changed the delivery method because the old inhalers used cfc's. We all know it was the asthmatics ruining the ozone layer . The new ones do NOT work nearly as well. That's ok, it's just breathing.

Pacquin's Hand cream - It had been around forever. I grew up using it and kept on using it. It worked better for me than any other body cream. Oh well. I did find (after much searching) a product that seems to work almost as well.

Sensitive Eyes contact solution from Bausch and Lomb - I have RGP lenses, so since those aren't as popular as the soft lenses, they don't seem to make as many choices for solutions. That left me with the Boston solution which makes my eyes sting. So I went with the Walmart brand (Equate) and that actually seems to be ok.

I know there are others that I can't think of right now.

Schwepps Raspberry Gingerale
We can still occasionally find this in our grocery stores around Christmas time :goodvibes

Jell-O Pudding Pops. I wish I could share one with my kids so that they know how good we had it as far as ice cream treats. I'm craving one now, darnit!:headache:
OMG, I used to LOVE Jell-O Pudding Pops ... :lovestruc

One thing I used to love as a child was 1-2-3 Jell-O

Tahiti Treat, Schwepps Raspberry Gingerale and these ice cream treats from the 80s that tasted like orange creamsicles and had an animal on the stick. :goodvibes

I missed this earlier--our grocery store carries this in 2 liter bottles all year round.

I can't find the Benefit "Kitten Goes to Paris" Body Powder anywhere anymore. It was one of my favorites and my cat knocked it of the sink into some water and ruined it. I have searched high and low for a replacement.

That turns up often on ebay uk. I used to have some and it smelt divine :goodvibes

Mmmm....Marathon Bar?

Just home from the grocery store. Picked up some Alphabits. :lmao:

Tried to keep some of this stuff in mind. Did notice the Stella Doro assortment missing. Forgot to look for the Mrs. Grass's soup, lol. (Was drawing a blank in the store!)

I bought a big container of Jergen's original not too long ago, at WalMart, I believe. Same smell as I remember growing up, too good to pass up. :thumbsup2

Does anyone remember going into an A&P growing up and smelling the freshly ground coffee from the grinders at the end of the cashier's aisle? I think that is one of my earliest memories from grocery shopping with my Dad. I still drink Eight O'Clock to this day. (I wonder when they'll put it in K Cups?)

Glad to help! Let us know how it is if you get some! I was tempted to get the Lemon Up myself!

I think the thing MomofKatie is describing is a CurlyWurly??? We get them in the UK all of the time.

Things I miss are Minute Maid Orange Soda (probably discontinued because of the carcinogenic neon coloured additives) and Loaded Baked Potato Pringles.

CurlyWurly is the same as a Marathon bar. I was thrilled beyond all reason when a "Dis"er turned me onto CurlyWurlys. Heavenly!!!

A Marathon bar to me is what Snickers used to be called :lmao: A Curly Wurly is different again

Isn't it funny how they have different names in different English speaking countries, let alone in foreign speaking ones :goodvibes

edit - After looking at Wiki a Marathon bar (US) was made by Mars and a Curly Wurly is Cadbury

Crispy M&Ms

I actually have two large bags of these in my house right now!!! We have a rule at work that when anyone (or anyone in a person's family) goes to Europe they must come back with at least one bag of crispy M&Ms for our lab meetings. Usually people pick them up at one of the European airports on their way home.

A lot of grocery stores will take requests too. For products that are out there but your store doesn't carry, ask a manager if they will stock it for you.

I've tried the Jergen's and it didn't work for me.

DH loves the Eight O'Clock coffee and it's funny because he is quite the coffee connoisseur. He buys the beans and grinds it himself.
