I have a serious problem with procrastination. I can't help myself. I saved all my homework until right now. I saved my Social Studies project that we could have worked on for 2 weeks and is due tomorrow...until right now. I can't stand it!

Is there any way to get me to get my work done...possibly before it's due? Or is there no hope?

When you procrastinate....how do you stop?

So, I guess to start the thread or something...

Do you procrastinate? or Do you get done your work right when you get it?

If you procrastinate....are you trying to stop? [like meee....]

I procrastinate alllll the time.
I think it helps me though.
I work well under pressure.
I do my best work at 2 am the night before a project is due.

I go phyco if I procrastinate.
I use to before.
But, I don't know what happened?
I guess I just grew outta it.

I used to ... but I got really freaked when my grades started dropping. Got yelled at by my mom... so now I'm a good little girl :goodvibes

I think I'm getting to that point where I have to stop. My grades are dropping, and even though this isn't the only reason, I don't want to keep doing badly. It takes me a long time to stop. My main problem is that I sometimes do my HW in front of the computer (bad idea), so I take self-proclaimed breaks. Meaning, internet time. I get even more frustrated by it then my parents do. I just want to get my work done!

That is exactly what I'm doing now. I'm reading my english book right infront of the internet. bad idea. I'm only on pg 11 and i have a test on it tomorrow.

Glad it's only a 100 pg book!

We all know what the problem is, don't we? Disboards! I spend way too much time on here. :rotfl:

The ss project is due tuesday. OOOO I forgot to read the book. Good thing we have the concert during 9/10 thank you 1st graders,

I have always been HORRIBLE with procrastinating.
But going to college has made it even worse.

I was all set at the beginning of the semester to not procrastinate. and I didn't... for about a month. Then I never felt like doing work. or writing papers.
Seriously, I had a 3-5 page paper due last week, and I didn't even start writing it until the day before it was due. It's realllllly bad. And I feel I'm only going to get worse.

I think I'm going to try something. I'm going to try to tell myself that my papers are due a day or two before they actually are, just so I get my lazy butt working. *shrug* I don't know if that will work or not, but I'll try!

Let's just say that I have a few things still due at this moment... ;) lol.

I am a HUGE procrastinator...a good example is what happened yesterday. We were given two weeks to complete a project and virtually started and ended it yesterday as it is due today. It was insane because we spent ALL day at it...I mean, it was a two week project crammed into a day! :rotfl:

However, the thing with me is that I work better under pressure. I can get things done better at the last minute than if I had a large period of time to work at it. All my high school career I have been procrastinating such as I did yesterday and I my latest report card included the following grades: 103, 97, 95, & 93.

Yes... but thankfully, not so much with schoolwork. I am homeschooled so I MUST be self-motivated, or otherwise it is reeeeally easy to get behind.
I procrastinate with other things... mostly with art stuff I need to get done. Like it took me FOREVER to finish that picrure my uncle asked for, and it's been... at least half a year since he told me what he wanted next, and I haven't even started it yet. I even have a good incentive - he's commisioning me to make these pictures!
Then there's how I am avoiding shopping for Christmas gifts... or even just thinking what to get. I dunno what to get them. eeek!
The worst was probably when I was in science class... we had to write a 3-page (typed) report by the end of the year. Plenty of forewarning was given. Yet I didn't start working on it untill less than a week before it was due. I finished it late the night before. I made the poster to go along with it in the hour in the morning before going.

Ahahah.
Procrastination rules.
I get more satisfaction doing things late.
Last year my french teacher expected me to write and entire story while I was on vacation. I was like.. EW NO. And when I got back she wanted it. She gave me a week to do it. I did it in three hours, and I got an A.
And the year before last, I was supposed to do a project when I got back. I procrastinated so long, the teacher didn't make me do it.

Yea this semester I procrastinated way to much. I saved my take-home Sociology final for the night before I had to hand it in. I saved my 4 article analyses and 4 page essay for college writing for the night before.

I think the whole transition from high school to college got me messed up. That's why things need to change next semester.

I don't think there's anyway to get rid of those procrastination urges, but what I do to deter them is take my laptop away from the internet cable and hide the TV remote..

World Class Prorcastinator right here!!

I'm getting slightly better with regular homework assignments, but I can't write essays before 9pm the night they're do.. they really turn out better when so much pressure is on.

For AP English we usually have 2 chapters to read, marginal note(which makes it take an hour to read like 8 pages x__X), and write a journal entry... I read the night before and in my morning classes - then I write my journal entry at lunch :) I have less time to eat so it encourages me to eat smaller lunches, as well. ;)

The way I see it - getting it done well and on time is all that matters. I'd rather be happy and procrastinate than force myself do work right when I get it and get frustrated with it for a longer period of time. Well being is more important than school work.

coming from a fellow procrastinator ibelieve me i know how hard its to start soemthing especially if its boring i mean i have a buttload of homework 4 tomorrow and istill havent started it. I am trying 2 stop cuz im supposed to do a lott of make up work since report card grades r going in and lets just say im not a genious. :rolleyes1 in order to stop i guess just pack up courage and lunge urself at those books...[/FONT]

I do that day to day with my homework. I'll wait till like 10:00 to do my hw, t hen get tired and dont d ohalf of it. But we have like tons!!!! of hw everyday!

i know wat u mean i mean last year i used to sit down at the table and do hw like right after school every single day and now this year i forget on a constant basis :confused3
