i have been calling MS daily to check if we were in the system yet from our resale purchase. so far - no luck. each time i call i explain i am a new member from resale calling to inquire whether i am in the system yet. each time, they first ask for my member id number. i dont have a member id yet, should i? arent they the ones supposed to give it to me?

so then they ask my name. i provide. my question to this is - does it matter if my partner and i are both listed on the title? if they are just searching my name would it show up or should i be telling them both of our names? i just dont want to be sitting out there in membership land and not even realize.

thanks.

I called a bunch of times over the two weeks (actually it ended up being 18 calendar days after our closing date) before we showed up in the system from our resale. (How long since you closed?) Every time when I said we'd recently closed and I was checking to see if we were in the system yet, MS realized that of course we don't have a member number yet and so asked for my name instead. (You won't have your number until you're in the system and then they can give it to you over the phone.) I would think both of your names would show up, but why not ask them to check the other as well as long as you have them on the phone already? :confused3 Everyone I spoke to was most helpful, I'd think they'd happily check.

our deed showed accepted on controller's site 5/5, i think we may have closed 5/4. im not worried yet as i know it has been taking almost 15 days for most. was just hoping we would get a little pixie dust and get in sooner.

i think i will have them check both names next time i call just to be safe. i would hate to find out we had been in system for days and we were just "looking it up" wrong. that would be a big bummer.

When I was calling all last week, they also looked it up by my zip code too.

They might not realize you are talking resale vs direct. While you can book immediately with direct sales, I still think it takes a little while for you to get into the system, so they might think you have a number....or it is just force of habit.

we just kept checking the member site under the annual dues section. After nearly 2-weeks i noticed a new listing saying no dues we owed and then checked to make sure the points were correct and so on. We got our new cards about 2-weeks later (blue by the way). Once you see points listed you can make reservations. Our deed came up on the orange county website about 2 or 3 days after closing. I understand the closing companies are not do such a fast turn around these days...

That is so weird-- our deed only just showed up there today!

If you are buying into DVC for the first time, though (like we were), you don't have access to the member website yet.

When you finally are in the system, you can have them give you over the phone the "resort ID" and "activation code" that you need to get into your online account at www.dvcmember.com

Hope you're in soon!

I was expecting a huge mix up, but this morning I called MS and told them that while I was already a member, we had just bought a resale with a different use year and needed the new number and all. The MS rep was FLAWLESS. She found our new membership number using our last name, gave me that number, the Club ID, and one time activation code. She promised to have the new cards sent to us. Then she made a reservation using our new points, including borrowing from next year's allotment. Rock star!

I tried to go log in to the dvc member website with the new info, and found that all our information, including the brand spanking new reservation, was already accessible using our OLD log in information. I did not have to re-register with the new club ID and one time code-I could already see all three of our contracts (the new one, and our other two which are the same use year). We bought our resale through TSS and Jamie there told me to make a notation on our closing docs about already being members and including our member ID.

Color me amazed, but for all the technology problems most of us have had at one point or another with Disney web sites, they sure got everything right this time! We can see both use years' contracts from the same place, using our original log in.

So hang on, everyone, there's hope!
