Problems with other renters lowballing your offers.

You constantly see other renters putting in low amounts for points but is it me or is it going a little overboard when you put an offer to someone on a thread and then someone post one lower right after you? It is amazing how people put little value on the points they sell when you can blatantly see if you wait just a little while when selling you can get what you feel is a worthy price and a deal for the renter all in one. This even seems more ridiculous and cutthroat when they post an amount less than what the person was willing to pay?

Get ready for thousands of more owners trying to rent points. It's supply and demand.

Perhaps simply post "PM Sent" and make the offer privately?

It is harder to undercut you if they don't know your asking price..... ;)

I normally would not think of selling but it is so much more cost effective to sell the points and pay for the cruise cash. When I joined we figured we would use the DVC for a cruise that we planned to do but it costs over a thousan dollars more to do a 4 day land and a three day cruise if you do the point scenario and try to match the package. It just boggles my mind why people would sell for less than 10.50 or 11 when you see it is not to hard to do. I admit it is not much but when you plan on selling quite a few it adds up and covers the dues for some of them.

I thought I did until I saw the thread. Just feel its a bit low to do it the way they did. They could have also lowballed with a PM and not invoked someones ire. What you don't know can't hurt you.

It does seem rude. Since she only has 9 posts and all to transfer points, maybe she thinks she needs to lowball to tempt them? Because there would be trust issues?

But the OP also stated he wanted to pay $10 Paypal and you countered with a higher offer .So you really did the same thing just in the opposite direction. JMHO

I also think all offers should be made by PM and the the OP Editing his post to close it or thanks to all the replied.

He can also see I was selling those for $11 on a thread and came down a little for a transfer. No risk on a transfer and maybe if he came back and said 10 which is what he had anyway and was serious then it gets done at 10 being I knew what he was looking for. At this point it is only 66 I have left so I think I might just hold and bank them and just sell more next year.

I called 4 fence company's and asked for an estimate. Told them what I wanted told, them I'd get back to them after I got all 4 estimates . Guess which one I went with--the better deal for me. That is all the original poster in the mentioned thread wanted was the better deal for them , yours wasn't the best offer -it was higher priced and not enough points. As an owner I hope points will rent for the highest bid possible , but if I needed some I would want to rent for the best possible deal at the time.

I agree but at the time they had no looks or responses so I played the old supply/demand and if they needed them and nobody else responded then what was it to go up .50 for them. They would only need a few more points then. I am not the one who has to sell but obviously they need to buy so the ball is in there court. Either way sooner or later I will get the 10.50 or 11 I am looking for just as they will probably get it for the 10 they are asking, or if someone is ridiculous enough to offer it even lower than what they were asking them in all means they should go lower.

By the way Boston, you also need to go with the gut and check out the track records. I also did the shopping around and went with the better deals and as usual you get what you pay for. One sued me for work they quoted and then raised to over double after the work was done (landscaper + they lost in court) and the other took 6 more months to complete a job and never got the proper paperwork and caved in a friends house and walked off the job after they were referred to them. Robbing Peter to pay Paul, You gotta love shady contractors.

I see it as you posted for more that the op wanted to pay and the next person was less without pay pal. I don't see where there is anything wrong. If the other person had wanted $5, then they have every right to do that, if it works for them. it is their points to use however they want. That is the same as what you are asking. You set what you want and no one can make you change it unless you decide what to do with your points.

I can see what you are saying about me putting it in for more but putting it up for less than what they are willing to pay is a foolish thing. Hey, I am looking at making the most for the product not losing money like the other person is doing when you actually look at it. All I am saying is why put them in for 9 when they flatly state they will pay 10. I at least am trying to get more not less?? Heck I should buy their points and turn around and sell them for 10 or 11 which would not be hard and make a few bucks. Hey maybe I can start a new business and buy all the points under 10 and then sell for 11 and up therefore control the market.

Can you really do that? Can you buy points at say 9.00 a point, have them transferred to your account, and then turn around and rent them for 11?

The transfer rules state in a year ( can't remember if its calender or use years) you can only transfer one way . If you have points transferred in you can't transfer out.
