Problems with on-line check in.

I'd tried doing on-line check in thru the DVC website and it kept telling me that I'd left something out, but wouldn't tell me what. So I finally gave up. Then, a few days ago, I got an Email from Disney reminding me to do on-line check in and sending me to MDE when I clicked the button. Although I've seen several posts of people doing on-line check in in the last few days, whenever I'd follow the link, it would say "on-line check in isn't available right now-please try later." This has been my message for the last 4 days. And what's especially strange is that if I go directly to "On-line check in" on the MDE App on my phone, I get a green check "You're all set!" So I have no idea if we've done on-line check in or not! Guess I'll wait a few more days and find out first hand.
 
I never got the full OK for our AKV stay last weekend, but we just got our room ready for our BWV stay today. We did not know if it worked, but it did.

Hope yours works out.
 
Disney's IT pretty much sucks, doesn't it. We don't bother with online check in anymore.

every time I tried it they wanted a credit card added. do they still do that. I refused and couldn't go any farther. I don't do on line anymore
 

The one & only time I did Online Check-in was back when it was new & they totally messed up my account. Points went in holding & the reservation somehow ended up under one of my guest's name. I've never tried it again.
 
I guess I'm in the minority because I've never really encountered an issue with online check-in. Of course not all of my requests/preferences can be accommodated, but I usually get the things that are important to me.

Only issues I've ever had with online check-in is that sometimes they don't send me a text message when my room is ready. I'll receive a text stating that my room "isn't quite ready" and then nothing. So then I'm stuck sipping on a drink at Jock Lindsey's and refreshing my MDE app until the room is ready and my room number appears on the app. Darn...
 
We have done online check in 6 times and never had a problem. They always texted that the room was not ready and then when room was ready. I guess we are in the minority.

I had the same thing happen for our stay, kept giving me an error.

Btw we are also staying at BWV right now :-)
 
I did online check for BCV arrival 2 weeks ago. Checked the box to take a room early if available, gave my credit card, set pin #s.

Watched as busloads of DME families went to their rooms for hours before our room was ready. ???
Told me they needed my credit card again that online check in did not get it. (It's been in there for years.)
And all our magic bands did not open the door when the room became ready.

Fail.
 
For the past year and half or 2 years it just tells me online check in is complete! I haven't had to do do anything in that entire time. :rolleyes: Crazy IT where some want to and can't do it then there are some like me that can't get it to stop! Actually I'm sure removing my credit card would and while I'd like to know what it's doing it automatically and have asked with no good reply on why it hasn't bothered me enough to do something to force it to stop.
 
Never had an issue with online check in, we use it every time. I don't do it through the DVC website though, I use MDE. That said, we fly in from CA on the red eye so we are usually at our resort pretty early and I always stop by the front desk to say hi and to see if there is an available room, as most of the time I don't have a preference regarding location and prefer to have first available (which you can select during online check in). Since online check in started I have always gotten my room before 4pm (except for the AKL CL rooms) and the vast majority of the time I have my room before noon.
 
I agree - it's worked that well for me every time and I also use MDE to check in. And I also stopped by the desk when we arrived and they verified they could not get me into a room. In hindsight, I was tired and should have been more assertive to ask why my choice to get into ANY room was not possible.
