Problems with guests at concierge lounges.

Deb305 - Even thougn you are in the 3 percentile, please be aware that you cannot pick up food with "thongs" as they are underwear/bathingsuits and would be a pretty discusting thing to do. I sure hope you are referring to the very useful food serving tool - TONGS! Just goes to show you money cannot buy everything, as your social status implies, but it can buy you a dictionary.

I have not read anyone else listing their 1040, and I find it a bit distasteful fo you do to so. We are all in agreement that rudeness does not discriminate and is found in all walks of life. I seriously doubt that anyone that can afford a consierge level in any hotel is hurting for money, as that is not the point. I think you have proven the point.

Nice post Deb305. I was a little taken aback by some of the posts here. Ill-mannered people are annoying to rich, poor, and bargain hunters. We are a middle class family and we would love to stay at a deluxe concierge!!! luckily we get to stay at the Carribean Beach each time! Also...my 3 year old ds asks if he may be excused before leaving the dinner table each night. It's annoying when people don't teach their children manners and allow them to "run and scream up and down the halls from excitement" One manner I have taught my son is to mind his business. We say..no that person is not being nice...but let's worry about ourselves. No..that person should not have dropped their napkin on the ground...but let's just pick it up. Not trying to sound harsh...just have never seen a post like this on here..... Of course I'm fairly new!!

Hey luvbuzz, I think people get into trouble when they start making generalizations and lumping groups together. I was floored by some of the posts on this thread.

However, I should know better, since I was told that because I have small children I should do everyone a favor and sit in the back of the jeep for the sunrise safari. Again generalizations based on personal experiences, which in my opinion hurt more than help.

wow...I thought that we were just having fun and expressing our opinions. I didn't realize that we were personally attacking people and their innocent typos now. Silly me! *a little afraid to post from now on...did I spell everything right?*

We were at the GF concierge last year with 2 other families. I consider all of us to be upper-middle class, having professional jobs with our DH's in management positions at hospitals. The two families we went with acted the same as the so called "bargain hunters". I was totally embarrassed to be with them! And we certainly weren't bargain hunters!

It is the American way....I paid for it, it is mine. Just like a toddler...if it is there it is mine. If it's yours, it's mine. If I touch it, it is mine.

We made excuses to not go to "snack time" with them again!

Staying in other places, I have said something to people that hoard things...the last time we were at HRH conc. I said to a beverage hoarders...Hey, I at least paid for 2 of those, so leave me two. He was so shocked he dropped 2 of the 5 bottles he had in his hands into mine LOL

I love this one, just goes to show people who live in a dictionary world should be sure to check their own before throwing that dictionary around: (thougn, discusting, fo, consierge) :)

Let's all lighten up a bit, it is after all Valentine's Day.

Come on guys - cut out the moral judgements and attacks, you all know the guidelines by now...

Discuss this by all means - but <b>play nice</b> when you do it!

Of course most people who think their children are always perfect angels who never bother anyone and are completely adored by all can't see that often it is exactly them we are speaking of in this forum.

Sammie, I'm with you!!

gonga, that wasn't a very nice thing to say. If it was meant to be a joke, try adding a smiley face or something. Sometimes it's difficult to get your meaning across in words, no matter how big your dictionary is.

Oh, now the gloves are off!

Ducklite - Do me a favor - lay off the insults. First you jab with your "bargain hunters" generalizations now you're attacking kids and parents whose children are well mannered . I too don't agree with children running rampant, but I certainly wouldn't stoop as low as you do with your comments.

It's quite possible to post on these boards without personal insults.

Because you've been unlucky with your experiences doesn't mean that they are the norm.

Please let us bargain hunting parents enjoy our children and Disney.

Just wanted to say that I can't wait for the Spring discounts to come out so I can stay in concierge & pile up the free food on my ice bucket tray while my kid runs aound without shoes and licks the desserts (if there's any left after I fill my tray). DH will be stockpiling alcoholic drinks, of course.

And Ducklite will recognize me by the lime green curlers in my hair, and my string bikini. DH will be wearing a "Bargain Hunter" tank top.

The whole family will be adored by everyone! :teeth:

I was in concierge at AKL for 9 nights and did not see any of the behaviors described on this post (thank goodness)

However we did have one day with the "Family from hell" who had twin boys about 3 years old that were wild and undisiplined and their parents were oblvious.

The kids kept pulling every toy out of the cabinet and spreading them out through the lounge, one kid was hitting the TV set with a plastic golf putter until I stopped him.......one kid kept turning on the "Lucky ducks" game which just kept quacking and quacking - but he didn't play with it - he just wanted it on and then would go do something else.

I turned it off and he wailed to his mother.. she turned it back on and went back to reading the paper......he smuggly looked at me and again went off to do something else so I grabbed it and took the batteries out of it - which was no easy task - because it's a toy so there is a screw you have to loosen to get the compartment open. lol

Then he discovered it was off and tried to turn it on again and of course it would not go on and he screamed blue murder and his mom and dad were looking at it trying to figure out what was wrong.

The staff did not say a thing to this family except when the other twin grabbed a handful of wooden stir sticks from the coffee area and threw them over the lounge railings... down into the AKL lobby below.

Anyway, they were only there for a day - for whatever reason - and soon it was just a distant memory and I returned the batteries to the lucky ducks game and enjoyed the rest of my time there.

========

Not at Disney - but I was at a Fairmont Hotel in the Gold lounge and I once saw a man pull his chair up to the buffet... and sit there... and proceed to fill his plate and eat there - like it was a dining room table.... how odd is that??

>>^..^<<

Sounds like we need an official "Portion Control Officer" in all the lounges. Several here would qualify  .

One persons snack is another persons dinner. It really shouldn't be necessary to monitor everyone elses plate. I think the important thing is that people avoid wasting food items by taking more than they can possibly eat or taking a large quantity of a certain item that they're not even sure they like. As with most buffet service, guests can be fooled by the foods appearance. I see more waste than boorishness.

Additionally, if you see me heading back to my room with a mile high tray, I may be making one food trip for our entire family.

Johnnie -

No different than at a wedding or function and we kindly offer to bring back a dessert plate for the table.

You can't even spell concierge so you have absolutely no room to be critical of anyone else's spelling/typing errors.

Which part of <b>play nice</b> is difficult to understand here?

Cut the bickering and discuss this topic with respect of your fellow posters...last warning.
