I'm curious about the types of problems folks who've been to WDW in the past few months encountered with Disney Dining Plans and the who Magic Band thing. We're going in Sept and considering adding the Deluxe Dining Plan. Curious about the impact with the Magic Band.

My Daughter and I were there in December, both had Magic Bands, room keys, and Dining Plan on our bands and did not experience any hang ups or issues.

Same here :cool1: DH and I were there last September . We had room key , FP + and dining all on our bands FANTASTIC !!!!!! Not one glitch, and we are counting down to go back again in September. Magic bands =

They are supposed to work exactly like the cards did. Except that you tap them to a scanner, not swipe them.

I have seen occasional complaints from persons whose bands didn't work at all or they had trouble assigning people to their account. I have seen pretty much nothing that complains about the bands not working for dining plans in particular. If everything else works for you, the dining plans should too. The type of plan is not relevant.

I saw a few who didn't realize that you had to enter your PIN with every transaction, including those using dining credits, which caused difficulty when kids tried to purchase a snack themselves and didn't know the PIN number.

I didn't have any problems with it during my trip in December. Worked great!

We were there last week and LOVED having our magic bands. We didn't have one issue. I left my bag at the room a couple times just to enjoy touring hands free :)

We had issues with our bands on the dining plan in December. Sometimes when we ordered quick service meals, snack credits would come off as well. Nobody knew why and it took awhile to get fixed because managers had to be called over. We learned to check our credits carefully after each transaction.

The only problem we had was that my MB didn't work at TS restaurants. It worked at QS and for snacks, but not at any table service! Another adult in my party would scan theirs and it worked fine. Other than that, no problems.

Has anyone tried to use their credit card on the band to buy food? Any issues with their dinning plan? If I use my ban to buy a cheap snack I don't want it to take a snack credit.

We used magic bands with the DDP earlier this month with no problems at all, used them to charge the tips to the linked credit card as well with no difficulties.

Used it the first week of March with no problems. Magic band worked perfect for purchases , dining plan and room entry.

We just got home today! No troubles with our Magic Bands and the Dining Plan. You do have to tell them exactly what you are doing before they start the transaction. For instace, if you want to use a CS credit, but charge an additional bottle of water to your room, its 2transactions. We had 2 rooms, and the Dining Plan credits are kept seperate. That was kind of a pain.

You have to tell them up front. If you are using one snack credit, and charging another snack to your room, it takes two transactions.

Oh they have pins, when do you need to use the PIN?
Does all of the room have the same pin #?

You have to punch in the pin for every transaction. Pin is used for Dining Credits and charging to your room.

Everyone is one room has the same pin#. We had 2 rooms, and we set the pins so that both rooms used the same pin#. I was paying for both rooms, and we were all on the dining plan, using the same credits. My children were in the additional room. It was easier for us to have the same pin #.
