The much-discussed "Yeti" at Expedition Everest has been a "mechanical problem" since the soft-opening and AP/DVC previews in late January '06.

So much so that Disney Imagineering has decided to "pull the plug" on this "abomination of an Abominable Snowman" and remove "him" from the ride (at least for the foreseeable future).

"Tech" Headman, the maintenance crew supervisor of EE said he's sorry to see the Yeti go, but it will make for smoother operation of a ride that has already seen a precipitous drop in ridership since it first went "on-line" for previews.

"We're not trying to go backwards here", said Headman, "but the Yeti created a destructive atmosphere."

Many riders who first were lifted by the idea of the Yeti, change their position after a pause for reflection.

We have been both ways on this thing.

The Yeti, as he was constructed, is only a shadow of what we thought he could be, it just when downhill from there in a big way.

We thought the Yeti might just mean the end to the whole EE attaction if we continued in that way.

We want guests to enjoy the best attraction experience.

After the dropping of the Yeti, we hope more people will scat back to the queues again.

So they think removing one of the big selling points of the attraction will make the attraction more desirable? Did I read that right?

EDIT: Ok I fell for it. Sadly though what makes this so easy is it seems so plausible. Well played sir.

Took me 4 sentences (plus noticing that it's a little unusual for Robo to initiate a thread) to realize I needed to scroll down to the articles author "Uno DeAbril". I'm a little slow today and surprised this is the first 4/1 post I've been in. . . I think ;)

This will seem a silly question since I've probably ridden everest 50 times but what is the Yeti supposed to do? It goes by so fast and it always looks like to me that the arm is doing some sort of swipe movement (not a big one - but I don't think it's stationary). What was the intended effect??

[Love the author's name - took me a few seconds to notice that!]

It used to MOVE, big-time, and its hand actually made a swoop at the guests in the trains.

It is motionless at this time.
It's just the strobe light that makes it APPEAR to move a bit.

I just commented in another thread about the crane and then I read yours and I thought "Robo's usually in the Know." How tragic for EE fans :(.

You got me bro :o.
