Problem with Travel Agent 5 days before trip!!!!

Maybe that happened. My Prepaid Hotel Voucher says Magic your way DTD Dining.

That should mean we paid for it, right???

Do your tickets check out?

Yes. It says 7 nights prepaid for the hotel. Has the right party size and dates.

The tickets show 7 adults and 2 children with Magic your way Park hopper tickets. (Just what we requested)

Not sure how other travel agencies do it but these are vouchers we take to the hotel front desk and they issue our tickets. I would guess that is how everyone handles it but who knows.

I hope these vouchers mean I am all paid as far as Disney is concerned.

We had a similar problem with a TA a couple of years ago. They too were part of a large chain. As a result, we now book all our vacations ourselfs online and via 1-800 numbers and have taken several with no problems to speak of. Good luck and the others advice stated above is very good. You have a receipt stating paid in full, you are in the drivers seat...smjj

I will never book through a travel agency again. I have had nothing but problems with this lady. I have had to call her numerous times about mistakes she has made. I feel that I have done most of the work on this and might as well do it myself next time.

I know for sure when someone ask me about a good travel agency in our area I will be sure to tell them about the bad one!!!!!!

Thanks for your support.

It almost sounds like her manager told her to talk to you to try to get the remainder of the balance out of you or she would be on "probation" or written up, or whatever it is they have at their agency. You have been given terrrific advice here on the board. Keep going up until it is resolved. Good Luck and let us know how this pans out.

She expected YOU to notice a red flag when the price was cheaper, but she, the professional, did not????????????? Keep bringing up this point to her supervisor.

As a TA for over 10 yrs, I am not sure how this has happened.
- NUMBER 1 - you have tickets! You don't get tickets unless a reservation is paid in full ... ESPECIALLY WDW. I have gotten faxes the day it was due that it would cancel within so many hours/days. WDW is not typically lenient for past due clients!

-Number 2 - am I understanding that you called her to ask again about the transfer vouchers? That is when she "caught the mistake"?

-Number 3 - How did the acct dept in her office not catch this ...

Very interesting! Keep us posted. I would DEFINITELY contact supervisor/manager first thing in am. Good Luck!

My sister in law worked as a Travel Agent for a major chain for years. She said mistakes were extremely stressful, and in some cases the TA's were required to pay OUT OF THEIR OWN PAYCHECK for mistakes. The Travel Agency said this policy kept everything above board so TA's wouldn not be tempted to cut friends/ family special deals.

Maybe this TA is being faced with paying out of pocket/ suspension because of this and that is why she is sputtering such nonsense.

Please keep us updated.....I know everything will be worked out. Definitely ask to speak to a manager tomorrow.

That is exactly what I think has happened. I work for a financial instituation and we make mistakes sometimes. We have to call the customer back and try to get the situation resolved. We usually just end up eating whatever mistake we have made to not offend the customer. I have never made a $1300 mistake but I have had some where I just had to take the loss.

I just hope it all can be settled before Saturday.

Wow. I'm amazed she'd threaten to cancel your dining arrangements! That sounds spiteful. Not a positive approach at all. It seems like, "to heck with customer service", the gloves are off!!! That's wild to deal with out of the blue! I'd be royally PO'ed.

You've gotten some great advice. The main thing is take those receipts!

Good luck with this. Don't let them bully you! Get legal counsel if need be. Sometimes just a letter from an attorney's office is enough to make them think twice.

Have a great trip! Don't let this mess spoil it for you. Keep us posted!

well, I can tell you that Disney will not send out docs until paid in full! If you picked up docs then DISNEY is saying you have PAID FOR WHAT WAS BOOKED....now, that is the BIG QUESTION! What was booked? Did the TA mess up and not include something that was suppose to be included?

I would insist on "hearing" a call with Disney....meaning, as a consumer booked under a TA you can not ask Disney to access your ressie...BUT, if this TA is SO sure that she is in the "right" then she could call Disney and add you onto the call so that you can hear everything! If she has nothing to hide then she should be thrilled to do this with you!

She messed up and if you didn't call about the tags she would be in BIGGER trouble..just my opinion!

Just found this thread... I hope things get resolved quickly. Keep us posted!

It sounds as though the TA double discounted the flight but since they paid everything it is the TA that is missing the money. So you are probably all set as far as your trip. It is now just the TA trying to recoup the money they lost. The only thing they can do is try to cancel something on you. I doubt they would go so far. But for the sake of peace of mind I would try to make a deal with them for paying a portion at a later date. Really, it was a mistake and since you know this and were expecting it to be a higher price then perhaps you can save someones job by working with them. Of course, if they really are being nasty then go ahead and let them eat the money. They should be courteous when the talk to you and should have offered to eat at least some of the money.

Good Luck and don't let this ruin your vacation. You'll probably be stressed about it but it sounds like you have your flight confirmed and Disney should be all set also. So once you are in your room, take a deep breath, look out at Magic Kingdom and forget the TA until you come home.

I would not pay!

If it was truly thier misstake they should have told you when they found it, if they waited like this I think they are playing "Mess with the customer" Sorry, I will pay for your misstakes if I am treated in a PROFESSIONAL manner. The fact that the OP had to call them to discover the misstake FIVE days before the trip pretty much screams... NON PROFESSIONAL!!! Treat me like dirt and expect to receive the same in return.'

And I think OP should post the name of the agency... we all want to know who to avoid!!!

I'm not sure whether you ever got your ME tags or not but if you didn't, don't worry about it. Lots of people (like me) never received their tags and it was not a problem. Just go to the ME desk at the Orlando airport, show them your vouchers, and you'll be on your way. Anyone who stays at a WDW hotel is entitled to use the ME service, and you can easily prove that your are indeed a WDW guest.

Good luck with this, I can imagine it's adding a lot of stress that you really don't need to your pre-trip planning. But I'm sure if you follow all the excellent advice you're getting here, it will be resolved in your favour.

Well Good morning everyone.

Let me first thank everyone for their support and suggestion. It really helped me out last night when I was feeling so stressed out over this situation.

I really do appreciate it.

When my husband came home last night we discussed all this and decided we would wait to hear what the travel agent had to say to us in the morning.

If it wasn't a good resolution we were prepared to come to a comprise of paying half of this after we returned from our trip. We did feel that we were expecting the trip to cost more so it wouldn't kill us to come to some sort of comprise. The only thing that really bothered us about this was the way the TA was speaking to me.

She was trying so hard to blame us for this mistake and not take any of the responsibility herself. That is what really urked me. As well as her waiting to notify me of this problem five days prior to our depature.

So I came into work this morning waiting to see if she had replied. I open my mail box and there is an e-mail from the travel agent waiting for me.

She was pretty rude once again and didn't take any of the blame but she did concede. She is going to take the loss!!!!!! She said she is very very disappointed after all the wonderful service she had provided me but is agreeing to count this as a loss. She said she could pursue this but she won't.

I wanted to laugh so hard. GREAT SERVICE????? I highly doubt that. She has made so many mistakes with this trip it is unbelievable. I have had to contact her numerous times to have her correct things. She left children off the packages, duplicated names, and never informed me of the discount that was being offered. I had to research that and notify her. To this day I still don't have DME tags. (I won't worry about these anymore because as everyone is saying I will be fine.)

I am so glad this is over. I am still a little nervous about what may happen when we get to Disney but I will try not to worry. Just hope she doesn't do anything spiteful.

Again, Thank you everyone for your suggestions and words of encouragement. I so appreciated them.

Have a wonderful day!!!!!

I am also a ta and only book Disney and I can not understand how this would be your fault, especially if you paid by cc. I had one occasion where Disney changed a reservation wrong ( changed 7 day tkt to a 1 day tkt) when we swithced hotels. When I got Disneys confirmation I noticed the mistake right away and had it corrected. So its between the TA and Disney, not you!!!

If you did not get your ME documents, don't worry. Call Disney and make sure they have you down as having ME and if not they can add you. When you get to MCO you go to the ME desk, check in and they will take your bag tags and get your luggage for you. They can give you your vouchers for your return also. I just had a client that added ME at the last minute and thats what they did.

I hope it works out and I have never heard of an agent paying out of pocket for a mistake. Tell them to recoup out of their commission.

Sorry we replied at the same time. Glad to hear it worked out!!!!

Don't be nervous at all about what 'might' happen. Just make sure you bring all of your paperwork, and I would include with it a copy of the e-mail where the TA says she is conceding the difference. Bring the TA's phone number as well, just in case there is an issue at check-in...but I honestly think you'll sail right through it without an issue.

Have a great trip!

In her mind, she probably thinks since she spent so much time correcting her errors, she "gave you great service". Doesn't some people's level of delusion just boggle your mind? :confused3

Glad you got the situation resolved- have a wonderful vacation!!
