Problem with reservations at POP - please advise if this has happened to you

I'm planning our 3rd visit to Disney as a quick 3 day thing before we go on a cruise...don't want to miss the awesome Halloween party!

I tried booking thru Travelocity for POP because they had $99 for 10/30 and $79 for 10/31 because 10/31 starts the value season. Unfortunately when they called to confirm the pricing at the resort POP told them it will be $99 both nights because whatever the price is on your check-in night is it for the whole trip! They said the only way to get the $79 for the 2nd night is to do it as a totally separate reservation for each night - sounds like a hassle.

I've never heard of a hotel doing pricing like this - normally if the rate varies during your stay you pay the varied rates...Anyone else had this problem?

I also tried AAA but their pricing was exactly the same ($99) each night so I don't see how they offer any discount over straight Disney prices...that was also disappointing, I thought there was at least a 10% off thing.

I don't want to feel like I'm getting taken advantage of here if I try to stay on Disney property - we have a really tight budget...pirate:

That is how Disney handles their pricing. Whatever price you are paying on your first night is what the rate is for your entire stay...unless you book 2 separate reservations. This can stink if, like in your case, your stay starts in Regular Season and ends in Value Season. However, it can also work to your advantage if you check in during Value Season, but check out in Regular (or even better...Peak) season!:)

$99/night at pop seems very high... have you checked using codes (from mousesavers)? i know the values have a $55/night special going on... don't know if it includes your dates, though... good luck...

Did you make the reservation? If not, I would book through Disney. Disney has been offering room only codes for the past several months to everyone. Not just FL residents and AP holders. That way if a code does come out you can call and have it applied to your room. Travelocity is not offering you a discount anyway. Those are Disney's rack rates. $99 for 10/30 and $77 for 10/31. Just my opinion.

I'm going to call Disney...if I have to book the 2 nights separate I will. I defiantely want to take advantage of any discount codes that come out...
Thanks for the advice...I'll post what I find out.

:Pinkbounc I am sorry about all your difficulty but is some cases the way Disney books works out. Case in point: my family of 4 is going for Christmas this year. When I originally scheduled a Dec 24th arrival date for 8 night I was charged $1017 for the trip because it is holiday season and rates are $127 a night with tax. After reading several sites I chose to arrive on Dec 19th, the last day at a value rate and stay 13 nights, with my AAA discount avaiable only during value seasons my new cost for my room is $893. About $125 less for 5 additional nights. This sounds crazy but it really helps sometimes. I just hope one day it will benifit you the same way.

I'm going to call Disney...if I have to book the 2 nights separate I will.

When we booked two sep ressie's, I had to come down and reregister in the morning of the second night. They had "connected" the ressie's so we stayed in the same room, but what a pain. The line was long and I had places I would have rathered I was.

When I booked our trip, I was also told that the rate at checkin is the rate your entire stay. I'd be tempted to make 2 seperate reservations if the price is an issue.

Enjoy your trip!

We are going for 4 nights the end of Oct/begining of Nov. We have to have seperate ressies. 2 days at the regular season and 2 at value season.

Go directly to Disney's website they are having a $55 a night sale at value resorts during the fall. Check the website for the code and "special" number to call. I got an email for $49 a night during that period but of course I'm not going during that time.

Yes this is standard policy. Sometimes it works in your favor, sometimes Disney. There are ways around it and you surely understand how to do it. Just a few notes since we do this ALL of the time. We find it extremely easy to just zip down to checkin first thing in the AM--usually around 7:00AM before breakfast. Usually never a line at any resort (did this at Pop in May and again at WL just last week). Tell them when you first check in that you have a "continuing reservation and will be re-checking in the next day". The CM will note this on your reservation and they will make sure and do everything they can so that you won't have to change rooms. Beware that by having more than one reservation they can MAKE you check out of one room and move into another. So far, after doing this about 4 times a year for 7 years, we have never had to change room (yet). But it helps by telling them when you first check in. When you call CRO to make your reservation, tell the CM what you're doing, they will surely understand as this happens often and will also note the "continuing reservation" on your first reservation. Now the down fall. Since you have 2 reservations, you are required to pay 2 deposits. Each reservation is seperate and you need to pay the one night on each to hold them. (just wanted you to know before you call). Once I stayed at the A/S Music and my first night was PEAK rates, and the next 13 nights were regular rates. By having 2 ressies, I saved over $200, well worth it. (BTW: the reason we always have continuing reservations is because we always have a CM rate and a CM ressie can not be more than 7 nights, so in order to stay longer, you have to have more than one reservation--just so you don't think I'm some kind of nut who likes to drive the CMs at the front desk crazy...!) When you recheck in you'll get new key cards, and will have to put your CC down for charging privledges again and will get a new parking pass. Other than that, you won't have to listen to the whole welcome to disney resort speech again. We are at Pop Century for our next trip for 12 nights and have a whopping 3 continuing reservations there--2 nights 1 room, then 7 nights for 3 rooms (family coming mid-trip), then 2 nights 1 room (family leaves--rest time). We are there Oct. 20-31.. So had to front 3 deposits, 2 for one room, and one for 3 rooms. But at our rate, we can't complain and never do! Enjoy.:earsboy:
