Problem with Chase Visa!!!

I've used my card for large purchases on several occasions and never had any problems.
Since I've gotten my card I've gotten airline tickets, paid for 2 cruises, paid for a Disney vacation and bought large appliances.
It would never occur to me to call ahead before making a large purchase.
 
I had the same type of problem about three weeks ago. We have a $23,000 limit, I'd made a payment of $6000...DCL cruise...4-5 days previously, and I ordered some meds for DS...security called on the meds order but allowed it to go through...hello, it is the same pharmacy we've been using for 10 months. Then, for security reasons, they declined 2 orders of clothing for my cruise. I hate shopping and they refused to contact the vendors themselves, said I had to do it. Naturally after I'd reordered the clothes they did contact the vendors so I ended up w/ duplicate clothing orders. They didn't used to be this way...I charged $8000 on a med procedure last summer, and in October I charged $5000 for a car downpayment...both of these charges for the points, I had the cash...but they went right through. I don't feel like calling before I make a purchase, and I don't want to look like a deadbeat...I've never had these type of problems w/ my other cards.
 
It is not just Chase Disney Visa who is doing this kind of thing lately. A couple of months ago I bought two computers from Dell via the internet. I received a call from my CC company just making sure that I was the one making the purchase. I thought it was a great idea. And was happy to hear that they were keeping an eye on my account.
 
I just wanted to mention, I was a cashier at Target, and still run dozens of credit cards a day now that I'm a travel agent. Then and now, when card is declined, neither I nor any of my coworkers think you're a dead beat. We figure it's just a security glitch or some other inocent problem.

Now, if yo run 2, 3, or 4 cards and they are all decline, THEN we think you're a dead beat! ;)
 

I had my Disney Visa number stolen last week. They charged almost $3000 in one transaction but when they went to use it on the internet it was declined. Chase did not call me. My DH was going to pay the bill online and noticed the activity. I think that know that someone has got a hold of some numbers and they are trying to be cautious. I suggest you call ahead for big purchases and let them know it is you.
