Problem with Chase Visa!!!

I just went online to the Chase website and activated my "alerts" - I marked it for email notification only - not phone.

Not sure this will help, but thought I would try it.

Wow, that stinks! I'd be mad too!

I haven't had any problems so far with my Disney Visa. In the past week I paid off my WDW package for $1000, I used it for paying off carpets $1000, I paid off furniture that was delivered for $2100 and I also used it a couple of weeks ago for booking the airfare and MNSSHP tickets...no problems.

I did have a problem though with our other CC which is Bank One. They put a 14 day freeze on our card because we paid it off and it was a high payment! So we were getting declined left and right with a zero balance!!! It was VERY frustrating to say the least and stupid IMHO.

I haven't had this problem with my Disney cc and I bought airline tickets ($1259) just last week. When I bought our united tickets for our summer trip they billed each of our 5 tickets seperately to the cc company which I thought was smart to make sure it went thru without a problem. I've also charged large medical bills without a problem but I prepaid those and had a $5000 credit on the account before putting it on the card, I'm sure they loved that :rotfl:

I always carry a back-up cc with me "just in case" my main one doesn't go through. It's an annoyance mainly because I'm not getting those rewards points but I also look at it as Chase just lost my business for that $500 weekend trip and my main xmas shopping weekend :earboy2: because of their stupid hold policy when I made large payments. I'm sure the other cc I used was happy to get my business.

I'm with you. Chase Visa has been a real source of frustration lately for me too. I have a huge limit and purchased my DVC timeshare and wanted to pay for it through my Chase Visa to earn the points. It took 2 weeks to process my first payment of $12,000 (which included a week to hold my account, even though the money came out of my checking account within 24 hours). I just made my second payment, so am back in the waiting game again too. After I'm done, I will be retiring this card. It has cause more pain than pleasure. I will go back to using my good old stand by Visa through my credit union. Phooney on Chase Visa--and am a "member since day 1".

I agree completely. They have done some odd things with our account and the customer service is very poor. Not only the intermittent denial of charges for "security reasons", but payments are sometimes VERY slow to clear (when I called they told me that they may take up to 10 days to verify payment after received. What?! -- I am paying online as I have since I opened the account, never late, never insufficent funds but you don't want to credit me for TEN days?!)

I noticed that they have steadily raised my interest rate to more than double what it was a year or so ago, which isn't really a huge deal with I don't normally carry a balance, but what's up with that? I have the account, but have no incentive to use it much -- too much stress about hoping the charge is approved, payment posted within a reasonable time, and no other problems since their customer service dept. leaves a lot to be desired.

Hrmm... I just got a new Chase card for the sole purpose of charging a DVC add-on (0% interest until Dec 2006). So I guess I need to call them and let them know now that a $9,000-10,000 charge is going to be coming along pretty soon.

I used my Discover card to book our trip for 8 people earlier this year. I received a call a few hours later just asking me if I authorized that charge (it was around $4,000).

I just charged almost $700 on mine last week. One purchase. Must have been ok since it was for our Disney vacation.

BTW, Bank One and Chase have merged. I have an account that was First USA, then they merged with Chase who merged with Bank One (or vice versa -- at any rate, they all combined). I still access that account online at "firstusa.com" but it is now part of that group. I had never had the slightest problem during years of the account with First USA but have had several since the merger. I would like to keep the Disney account just in case there happens to ever be any perks of value, but so far that hasn't been the case. I have a couple of "rewards" cards I use regularly and pay off each month which actually have better returns, so that isn't a big draw for me.

I wish Disney had joined with someone other than Chase for their card, as I have had more hassles with them in a year or two than in many years of cc accounts with other company.

I would rather have my card flagged for a large purchase than not. I have had fradulent charges on 2 of my cards over the past 2 years. While I have never had to pay for the items in question, I would rather avoid the constant checking of my account and filling out paperwork to straighten out the mess.

Since the BankOne and Chase merge... I ended up having 3 Chase credit cards.... I called to cancel 2 of them and it's amazing how painful they can make it to close those accounts. She was like, "I'm sorry we are losing you as a customer." I reminded her that I had THREE cards and only closing 2 of them.

After about 10 minutes, she finally said she was closing them. Now I need to call back to make sure she didn't close all three!

Well, the intersting that with me was that we found a Chase Account that I never knew existed!!! LOL! I went on line to look at my Disney Card and suddenly had a Sony Visa??? I have never bought anything from Sony??? The agent looked when I called and then said that the account was opened about 5 years ago (no idea!), but NOTHING had ever been charged on it and the billing address was my old home address. We just cancelled it! They were very nice about it.

I wonder if that is what just happened to me. I just tried to buy some dog poop bags online for 6.95!!! :goodvibes It said my security code didn't match which it did. I used another card we have and it went through just fine. I have bought airline tickets within the month (online) with no problem, but for $6.95 I had a problem.

Well we just bought a car with our Disney Visa today (to rack up those dollars) of course we had to pay the rest cash LOL...but we called a head first to tell them we were just about to do it,,,they said OK FINE ..LOL..but I wonder if we had not called if it would have gone through...I guess its good they check!!

Personally I think this is sometimes a web problem. I have had this happen with a couple of sites... It seems like something gets stuck in there and the site will NOT let go and take your correct information. I called Barnes & Noble once and the guy read me his info which in NO way matched what was showing on my screen. (Of course that was before I swore NEVER to use their on line ordering again.. Did you know that two day delivery includes THREE additional days for the warehouse to find the gift card???)

I have written Presentence Investigations for the Court on cases where people have committed theft by credit card/unlawful use of a credit card and it is a NIGHTMARE trying to figure out who the real "victim" is. Everyone involved is a victim, but it can be a real headache finding out who is actually out the money (usually not the credit card holder though thankfully - but they are usually quite shaken up by the crime). Even if restitution is ordered, it's rarely paid and if the defendant has stolen enough to go to prison it never gets paid. I never ever get upset with extra security measures regarding my finances. I thank clerks who ask to see ID with my credit card or verify my signature.

I just paid 1200 towards my dad's Disney trip package and I didn't have a problem.

Yep, just went Thursday to pay off my WDW vacation so I could earn points and it was denied. This was after waiting nearly 30 minutes to sit with the TA at AAA to do this (not to mention another trip where I waited that long and had to leave before seeing anyone). I wish I had read this thread before.

On other VISA that I have I did notify them that I would be cruising and therefore charges would be out of the country but I never thought that charging a WDW vacation with a Disney Visa would cause a problem...

Called them and they advised me to call in before any out-of-state charges or large purchases. Well, while I agree with the security thing, this is just too much trouble for me. It's okay though, because I'll be cancelling the card when we return. I have far too many and only got this for the points. I thought my charges would be easy to track but I'm forever over-budget at the end of the month, making the points senseless really :flower:

Oh well, gotta get back to using the debit card instead.

We were buying approx. $250 worth of stuff at DTD and we had to have the CM call. When she did call they wanted to talk to DH, they asked a few questions (mother's maiden name etc) and then talked to the CM again and everthing went through fine. WE did not have a problem the rest of the trip and we used the card for EVERYTHING!!!!!

I had a call on my answering machine just a few days ago about suspected fraud on my Disney Visa. At first I thought nothing about it because we had just used it for all our plans for our Orlando vacation, and a rather large purchase at the home improvement store. I called to hear what charges they suspected were fraudulent, and to my surprise, someone tried to purchase something for $2,500 dollars that day at a farm equipment store, along with a few other smaller purchases. Although I am not liable for the charges, I am glad they do take these precautions, because of the security breaches lately with the credit card companies.

I have found in the past that with some company's you actually have to write a letter saying that you want to cancel or else they just say they'll cancel it and never do!!! It's a good thing to check your credit report every year just to make sure, especially since so many people have several card.

I suppose that's right that it's best to be embarrased then to have a fradulent charge to your card. I'll try to look at it that way next time!!!

Called the other day to get my Interest Rate reduced since I can get a Gold Visa thru my credit union with the same credit limit for 9.9%. No go (The card waspaid off this month), but they refunded the last 2 monts finance charges. They told me to call back in 6 weeks to see if things could change. I am thinking about just dumping them and going with the credit union account.

The only other thing I did not ask about was a Credit Line Increase. I curently still have the $7,500.00 limit I got with the card initially about 18 months ago (and the only reason I got the card in the first place was to get last year's "7 for 4" deal). I may call back after I get back from my business travel o see what I can get.

I have closed my AMEX, Citi and BoA card accounts and only have the one card now, so I am in the market to get the best deal I can...
