My DD's phone was turned off today and when she went to turn it on just now, it seems to be stuck in an endless re-boot. It goes into four or five re-boots and then the phone part never really comes up. Hard to describe, but it re-sets four times and then just turns off. Makes no difference if the phone is plugged into the charger or not. Phone is one year old. Has *not* been dropped, no cracked screens, everything was fine the last time she used it this morning.

It is a 6555b if that makes any difference. Any ideas? I thouhgt it might be the battery, but it won;t come on even when it is plugged into the wall. I hope it hasn't just DIED. Then we'll be stuck having to get a new one even though we'll have to probably pay dearly...ugh.

Help me O DIS'ers, you are our only hope:yoda: !

Sorry to hear.

FYI you dont have to spend big bucks for a replacement, since you are on ATT you can just buy one of their prepaid GOphones and switch sim cards.

Gophones are available on their website for as low as $10, Radio shack has a flip phone for $15 right now. They are also sold at walmart and such.

Take sim card out of dead phone and place in the GoPhone, and you will be good to go.

Try taking the SIM card out, leave it out for a few seconds then reinsert it. That's what the AT&T guy told me to do and it works for my Iphone when it starts acting up.

Thanks for the advice, we might have to get her a GoPhone

Ugh, this is all we need today. She *just* found out that her 2-person team misinterpreted some rules for a science competition and they will have to basically throw away their entry and start over from scratch. And their competition day is in a few weeks. Her team-mate is going to completely FREAK-OUT when she finds out. Omg, this is so awful, they have been working and working and working on the wrong kind of 'invention'.

It could be the battery. I had something similar happen with an old phone. When I took it in for repair, I was told that after a set number of charges, the battery will no longer hold a charge and will actually act as a resister and will prevent the phone from working, even when plugged in.

He also told me that I should not plug the phone in in the car unless really neccessary--every time the car gets turned off and on while the phone is on the charger uses up one of the battery's charges. And, to only plug it in to recharge when it needs it, not every day.
