Ok...this will be my first trip to WDW this year, and one question keeps coming up in my mind: my fiancee and I will be going, but what do we do with our camera bag while we're on the rides???

:rotfl:

I just have this nightmare of my camera bag smushing into my side or flying out into nowhere! :teeth:

Can someone put my mind at ease :goodvibes I'm guessing that we can leave the bag on a ramp while we ride, etc.

How big is this camera bag? :earseek:
You don't want to leave it anywhere but a locker. And I don't recall ever seeing a place to "leave" items laying around while riding. (Other than guests leaving things laying in strollers.)

Most of the wild rides have a place (mesh bag under seat, etc.) to stash such items. Unless you're carrying a big honkin' bag, yours should fit fine...

The bag is 6x8x3. Our two cameras and a few snacks will be in it. We'll also have a PAL Mickey clipped to it.

They have CM's at every ride whose sole job is to hold cameras for riders! :rolleyes1

All teasing aside, my camera has a bag, which I wear around my neck. I don't know how big your camera is. You could always invest in a fanny pack. :rotfl2: Ok, now I don't want any PM's from the "Fanny Pack Club."

It really won't be a problem. Just hold on tight. On the wild ones you'll have to hold your sunglasses too.

Some attractions have a place to store articles (soarin, safari, Star Tours). Others you just have to hold on tight. I have gone on Rock n Roller Coaster hanging on to my back pack the whole way.

Great! I've never been to an amusement park bigger than Worlds of Fun in Kansas City :teeth:

Oh this is one thing I sooo hope I do not have to worry about. I will have my Digital Rebel with me and I I guard that thing with my life..lol I would not take it on a crazy ride flinging it all around or leave it anywhere.. However since we will have ds2 with us dh and I would not be riding a ride like that at the same time anyways so I will just let him hold onto it for me when I am on a ride. I do have a HUGE fear of something happening to my camera out there. I mainly hate to have to carry it around all day but the pics in the end will be worth it..hehe

our bag is about 10x 6x6 and we kept it by our side( toward the side of the car with the shoulder strap over our shoulder. if there was a bar we put it under the bar and it worked fine.

however ......

don't take a bag unless you really need it..if your camera is small enough put it in your pocket then you don't need a bag search, won't lose it ect.... hubby has some cargo type shorts and the pockets are great for a small digital...by the end of the trip those pockets had snacks, passes, you name it & he weighed an extra 10 lbs from things we needed to carry but didn't want to hassle with a bag:teeth:

I'm the weirdo going to a BIGGER camera bag this time! Last year I took my regular Rebel with the zoom lens which was big enough but this year I have my digital Rebel (DH had a cow when I came home with 27 rolls of pics last time and bought me the digital :rotfl: ) and since I know we won't be coming back next year, I'm bringing the camcorder too. We have a 10 year old 8mm so it's not very small, both cameras with really be bulky but I want to video a lot so we can relive the magic when we get home! :wizard:

Just get a couple of side bags. That way while you are on the ride, they are still next to you.

I have the digital rebel too, as well as the old 8mm camcorder that we just updated to a dvd recorder. I understand your dilemna. Here's what I do. I always carry it with me. The rides that have mesh bags I put it in that. The rides that don't have mesh bags, I wrap the strap of my bag around my leg until the bag is tight and put the bag itself between my feet. I have been doing it that way for several years and have never had a problem.

Great ideas guys! You're the best!

I'm going to do the wrap around my leg thing. Since the PAL Mickey is Chris' idea, I'll let him be his 'keeper' on the rides :)

It's great that Disney will let you take your bags on rides with you. We have an annual pass for Cedar Point, and they will not let you take anything on a ride with you if it isn't attached. My mother was wearing a lanyard last time we were there, and they made her take it off. They won't let you take the stuffed animals you win from the midway games on the bumper cars, for goodness sake. I understand not being able to lug a camera on some of the roller coasters, but they are quite strict at Cedar Point.

When my husband and I visit WDW in September, it will be our first solo trip. My family has been there every other time, including our honeymoon. :bride: This was one of those things I wanted to check on, since my dad tends to be our Eeyore (pack mule). He tends to hold things while we ride. He's great like that! :earboy2:

Thanks to BottledRed for posting this question!

The only ride where you'll probably have to be really creative is RnRC at MGM, since there is an inversion. I'd wrap the strap around my wrist and hold it tight. Or if you can get it around your waist, it'll be fine too. Just make sure it's closed tight.

tighten the straps as tight as they will get and loop the strap around your thigh . when you sit down you will sit on part of the strap and it will hold the camera bag tight. Worked like charm for me
