Maybe you said it and I missed it, but how tall is your son?

It's best to be at least 40" at Universal, but 42" is even better. The only ride my 43" son wanted to ride but couldn't was Dudley Doright, which has a 44" restriction and he kept measuring himself thinking that maybe he'd grown (I think I'm forgetting another one, but maybe not). Of course there are other bigger rides with higher restrictions.

Glad you son did well with the lines at 6 Flags. And at least the rides at Universal are worth waiting for. ;) (Our local 6 Flags is terrible).

He is 42 inches right now :) Hopefully he will be a little taller so there will be no question about it :)

Is that with or without his shoes on? If it's without you'll be in good shape. I forgot--how long before your trip?

That's great--he'll be well over 42" with his shoes on. If he has a growing spurt he could even be 44" with shoes, but I sure wouldn't bank on that. He'll be able to do Popeye raft ride (my 4yo's favorite) and Men in Black and a lot more.

Have a great time!

You're child is young, so maybe missing Universal this year isn't so bad. We came back last week from our first trip to Universal.
I was expecting too much, it's nothing like Disney. I just didn't take to the parks.
I think I'm just a Disney person.

This is what my Dh is thinking. It is hard since it will really be all new to us. We haven't been to Universal in 6 years.

Well, after you go then it won't be new to you anymore. WDW was new to you at one time. I say take the plunge. I don't think you will regret it. Your child will love Seuss Landing and Marvel Superhero Island.

My kids like both WDW and Universal (well, I'd have to say my older ones prefer Universal) and my DH prefers Universal by far over WDW. He's been to Universal 2-3 times in the last year and a half (he hasn't been to WDW in a few years) and we are planning a WDW trip for just the two of us. He's mentioned wanting to go to Universal instead of spending all our time at WDW, but since I have WDW APs we're only going to Disney this trip.

You don't know how you'll like it until you give it a try!

Universal is definitely NOT Disney. It has its own uniqueness. If you go expecting Disney, you will set yourself up for disappointment every time. It is not Disney, nor does it pretend to be.

My family much prefers Universal, however, we also enjoy WDW. It is the proverbial apples and oranges. Oranges and apples are similar in that they are both fruit, yet each has its own taste. You can like both of them, enjoying the different flavors. But if you would bite into an orange, expecting an apple, you would definitely be disappointed. WDW and USO are similar in that they are both theme parks, but after that, they have their own atmospheres.

Go and enjoy the fun to be had in both parks and appreciate each of them for what they are. They both have their own individuality and both of them are loads of fun.

Don't try to compare them, otherwise, you take all the fun out of trying something new.
