Probably a silly question

but I have to ask anyway

We're looking to take a short break to DLP next year but I was wondering how strong does my french need to be? How much of the signposting or do many of the CMs speak English?

My husband speaks no french at all, we'll be travelling with my sil's family- so ten kids under 11 and out of the entire group only my eldest daughter speaks any french beside me.

Basically what I'm asking is will we survive? Or do I need to seriously start brushing up on my french now (and get DH to learn?) for things like the airport, buses to DLP and the resort hotels and parks?

Also does DLP offer a magic express type service like WDW? (and if so is it only from the airport or from the eurostar and ferries too?)

Thanks in advance! (i've been nominated as chief planner as we've just got back from WDW and sil's never "done Disney" but wants to)

Don;t worry, more english than frend at DLP!!

You'll be 100% fine!!! Every CM can speak english, most of the perfectly, and all maps/signs are english.

A couple of the rides are in french, but i never think it distracts from the experience.

You can get away with 0 words of French in DLRP itself - all CM's seem to speak good English. Learning a couple of words is much appreciated though - even just Bonjour , Merci and a couple of other words is enough.

Fabulous, thanks for the swift replies. I shall be doing the evil mother bit and making my eldest practice her french though, might even dupe DH into learning so he can't use it as an excuse to avoid helping her with homework anymore.

no need to worry at all.
ive been to dlrp with my boyfriend. we dont speak any french at all but had no problems whatsoever.
everyone speaks english at disney, all signs, menus etc are both in french and english.
enjoy ur trip

Definite echo of this!

I really enjoy speaking a litte bit of french too, makes it seem more magical saying 'bonjour' as you're going through the gates in the morning!!

Totally agree, don't need to know everything but the basics are always nice to know.
