Probably a silly question but...

If you're staying off-site, are you still allowed to go purchase meals in the various hotel restaurants on-site? Like the Buffeteria in FW, the Contemporary, etc.,?

Also, can we go and walk around the various properties to see if there's someplace we like for a future trip?

Thanks all!

Yes you can. It is fun to resort hop and look at all the lobbies and restuarants!

you don't even have to be on a WDW tri pto enjoy the rosrt restaurants ;)
2 yrs aog we went to US/IOA but we needed to go purchase our tickets at SoG. WDW had jsut anounced that the villian dinner at GF was ending and we reall ywanted to give it a try, so we made a PS for 1900 PF. We spent about 3 hours at the GF altogether. We looked around the resort, had dinner then watched EWP, FITS and even the kiss goodnight from the ferry dock.

Thanks SOOOO much!! I really want to check out Fort Wilderness because someday (in my dreams) I would LOVE to get one of the cabins there.. (We're really into "cabins/cottages..LOL)

Also, some of the restaurants sounded like they might be fun to try but I didn't know if it was allowed..

What do you do about parking?

When I've had a ps, I've told them at the gate, but have never had to prove it. I've also showed up at CR and told them at the gate that we were there to lookaroudn and have dinner. Usually you'll be given a 3 yr parking pass. This was started to keep people from parking at a resort to avoid paying for parking at a park.

We spent some time at Fort Wilderness during our last trip even though we were staying at PORS. We walked around, had a great dinner and checked out the outdoor movie (recommended by a FW staffmember). We also wandered through the part of River Country that is left open which was interesting and sad. :(

We just did that last weekend...we stopped by the Boardwalk Inn, The Animal Kingdom lodge, The Grand Floridian and The Contemporary. We drove to the first two and were asked if we were guests at the gate. We said we were just checking it out and they asked for ID (license). They gave us a temporary 3 hr parking pass at AKL. We stopped by the GF and the Contemporary via the MK resorts Monorail. Anyone can go inside and check out the restaurants, shops, etc. This is the 1st trip that I've checked out other places to stay and it was really a neat addition to our trip! Each place was so different from each other! We were staying at the Comfort Inn in LBV so these Disney resorts were quite the treat for us!! :bounce:

I've only been able to get a 3 HOUR parking pass. I'll try for the longer one next time LOL

I can't even imagine how much it would cost to stay at WDW for three years. But itwould be nice to dream.

LOL... i saw that and thought I changed it before I submitted. I guess I made the same mistake 2X. I'd love to stay at the GF for 3 yrs. Hummm... win the lottery, buy a suite at the GF, sounds like a plan to me.
