Probably a dumb question, but here goes

Everyone is being so helpful :thumbsup2. It is really making the decision easier for me. I love Disney and owning a part of it would be great :cloud9:.

.....You really have to work the numbers on this. Right now, Disney just ended a very nice AKL incentive package on Sept 21. There is some speculation that Disney will have to tie a couple of pork chops around AKL's neck once BLT goes on sale to the General public on Oct 5th. If AKL is the place you want, I would hold off for a month and see if Disney sweetens the deal with some really good incentives. The resells for AKL on the big sites are generally contracts asking for 94 bucks a point, and they are stripped contracts! Bad deal......

......We just passed rofr on our BCV resell contract, we are now waiting to close!

This is important advice from rileygirl - definitely work all the numbers comparing a resale purchase to a direct from Disney purchase, and agree patience may pay off with the possibility of perhaps upcoming incentives from Disney for AKV. Also, Member Services closed early today and there has been some buzz on these boards that reason is tied to Tree House Villas under construction at Saratoga Springs Resort ( Disney will then sell more Saratoga Springs points ).

pixiedust: Congrats too rileygirl on passing ROFR !!!

I now have another question........lol. If I have 125 points and I need 130 for the room and I don't really want to borrow from next year. Can I pay the difference with money?

Nope, I dont think so. You can make a cash reservation for the final night, if there is one available, and DVCers can sometimes get a discount of 25% off cash rates (depending on availability of course). Your choices are - borrow the five points, rent the last night from a dvcer and pay them cash, try to get a cash ressie from MS for that night, get a transfer from another diser for 5 points, or buy more points!

Banking, borrowing, transfering points can get a little complicated I think. I have read alot about it, but I still think I dont really understand it all. I dont think I will really 'get it' until I start having to do it myself. One great piece of advice that I got from these boards -- whenever you find an explanation of banking, borrowing or transfering, or use years, or cancellation, or items like that- ones that are very informative and makes sense to you,, print out the thread and keep it in a book to reference later.

Congrats too rileygirl on passing ROFR !!!
Thank you! I am very excited

Thank you for all the information. It is very helpful. I have been doing research and at times there is so much to take in it really does start to get confusing. I will have to print out the information.

I know we will most likely go the resale route because we don't have to buy 160 points. I can start out with around 100-125 and see how that works for us and add on as needed.

I will keep doing my research for the next few months and see what incentives Disney may offer :surfweb:. Who knows with the economy like it is Disney may offer some nice things to get people to buy in :wizard: .
