Private school

We paid $12,500 this year for 3 kids in elementary. SADLY, our school didn't make the enrollment for next year...and will be closing the doors June 20th! I already have them enrolled in another catholic school for next year, and will see a $5,000 decrease in tuition.

I'm sorry to hear that. I can understand why it's going to be cheaper. It's a catch 22. As the enrollment decreases, they have to increase tuition to make up for it BUT then more families cannot afford the higher tuition and so the tragic cycle continues and enrollments decline.

2 kids in elementary (but same tuition fee for 1st-8th) 5500.00 per year. 600.00 per year (total for both) for registration.

no lunch program (except one day per week when each parent takes turns providing a hot lunch and we charge the kids $1.75 each for fundraising), NO OTHER FEES, FUNDRAISERS, NICKLE AND DIMEING.

entire school (k-8) has less than 25 kids and 3 teachers. (sponsoring church pays majority of expenses which include multiple school field trips per year including one 2 night trip most recently to church sponsored retreat facility).

prior school kids attended would run us around 15,000.00 per year (not including registration, book fees, uniforms, field trips, building fees, mandatory "contributions", and CONSTANT FUNDRAISING -a.k.a. you don't sell enuf you cough up the $$$).

ds is going to a lutheran school for preschool in the fall. $100 registration fee, $75 book fee and $150 every friday- comes in around $5600 for the year! He will be going fulltime

So, does that mean that people who can't afford to send their children to private school or don't have a private school in their area are doing their children wrong?

lets not start something that don't have to get started.There are many areas with good school systems.If a child goes to public school,that does not mean that their parents don't care.Some people may not be able to afford a private school and they are excellet parents with smart children. A school does not make a child but you need the right school to bring things out your child talents.My son does better in a smaller setting than his sister does. So we need a smaller class room for him. Our public school class room is just a tad big for him. We also need an all day school because his parents work.The public school only offer a 1/2 program. These are some of the reasons that people chose to send their children to private schools.
