I was just wondering who send there children to private school. I am sending dd 13 now to school and my others will follow next year. What is you yearly tuition? for us 2,800 for 1 child. I am going to have to do seperate schools. The tuition will rise to 5,000 for all the children. What do you pay yearly?

We pay $5000 per year for Pre-K. Next year it will be $6000. That's for just one child!

I am currently paying $9500 and that is just for one child (2nd grade). I my older one was still in private school, it would be another $15,000 for the high school.

wow you really pay alot more than we do. Do you have to do alot of fundrasing also?

my kids use to go and it was about $3,000 for tuition per child, but then they nickle-dime you all year. They always had some kind of fun raising project going on that we were expected to contribute to. It was great when they were younger and if I still had a younger child, we would still be going, but the ones in our town are limited in activities for older kids.

We only have one in right now (1st grade) and the tution for him is $3384 a year. We love our sons school, he attended another private Christian school last year and that was the tuition for his 1/2 day kindergarten it would have been over $500 a month for 1st grade. We're at a smaller school now and doing well!

How many children are in his class. I find that at the Christain school they had a little class which I do not mind. Dose your school offer hot lunch?

Yes, we do have several fund-raisers a year...carnival, book fair, read-a-thon, and the main one in which each family just contributes an additional dollar amount to the school fund. It's a great school, and unfortunately for us, one of the only good options (we feel the best!) The public school system here is in deplorable shape. The real kicker is that we have extremely high property taxes ($6500) of which 80% is school tax!!!!

We are paying $2900 per year for DS school (first grade). Next year, both DS's will be there, so it will go up to about $5000. It seems like a lot of money but the public schools in our town aren't great, so it is well worth it to us.

One daughter in middle school. The tuition is $12,000 per year. For the 06-07 school year, she will be back in public school.

We took ours out of private school a few years ago when we realized our DD is LD and their school could not give her the education she needed or deserved. We could have moved them to another private school were the educational level was much better for children that are EC but I could not afford it. We were paying right at $6 a year and that was with a discount for 2 children. The other school is $19000 per child per year.

we pay about $11,000 for 2 kids in day care. This fall my son will start kindergarten which will be about $4,000. At least in Il you can get back an additional $500 on your state taxes for each child in school. But you must report it on your federal taxes the following year.

4 kids in private school here, 3 in elementary for $5000/year, 1 in high school for $5000/year. And yes we fundraise constantly, pay fees for sports and field trips etc. We live in NY and have unbelievably high property taxes, but there is no other choice for our kids.

It's a very personal decision, many will look at this post and think we are crazy. I don't like paying the bills each month, but the environment and academic excellence are well worth it. I have many more years to travel, drive an expensive car etc., but I will only be able to educate them once.

Chris

Yes it is a personal matter. I choose to send my children and I will scimp and save where ever I can. The public schools around here are junk. They have 7-12 in one buliding and give them a 45 minute lunch break to leave school property to " eat lunch" Among other bad traits

In your private school what is a big fundraiser that you do? :teacher:

We applied for a private school for ds for 1st grade. It's over $16,000 per year. I don't know what we will do if he gets accepted.

His public school is decent, but the large classes are difficult for him.
