I am interested too!!! We have never stayed anywhere except Disney property. Next year we would like to go to Universal and Seaworld! I will keep an eye on your post!

We have rented from this person before. We stayed in the Captiva house. It is in Kissimmee, but I would stay there again even if we were going to Universal. SUPER clean and updated. You can tell that it was very well maintained. They have muliple homes on their website so you may find that one is closer to Universal than the one was stayed at.

The closest vacation homes to Universal are in Kissimmee IMO. It takes about 20 minutes to get to Universal from where we stay on Cumbrian Lakes. The company we use is Florida Leisure and we have always had a wonderful vacation.

Universal is in Orange County and there is a bylaw that prohibits short term rentals. Kissimmee is in Osceola County where short term rentals are allowed. That's why you see all of the subdivisions in the Kissimmee, Davenport (Polk County) areas and not in Orlando itself.
Subdivisions on Poincianna Blvd are as close as you'll get to SeaWorld, about 10 - 15 min. The Formosa Gardens area which includes Emerald Island, Windsor Hills and lots more are about 20 minutes from Universal, 15ish to SeaWorld.

It is correct that there are no private pool homes in Orange County zoned for short term rental. The only short term rental community in Orange County is Vista Cay resort. It is located on Universal Blvd. next to the Orange County Convention Center and about 1 mile from I-Drive. There are 3 bed, 3-1/2 bathroom townhomes there, 3 bed, 2 bath condos, and 2 bed, 2 bath condos that are upscale. It was built by Pulte, same builder that built Windsor Hills. It has a beautiful 10,000 sq. ft. Clubhouse with loads of amenities and a beautiful pool that overlooks a nicely landscaped walkway around a lake.

The townhouses have a private entrance, 3 stories, have a garage, patio, and small balcony. They are about 1800 sq. ft. However, they do not have their own pools.
