Priority Mail - Flat Rate?

I know there is a flat rate envelope that we have all used for swaps that costs $3.85...

What is the flat rate for the box and what size is this box?
Will they fit 7X10 inch and 8X8 Cjs......?

As the Circle Journals 'grow', they won't fit in the envelope.

Envelopes
• The Priority Mail Flat Rate Envelope is $3.85 for any U.S. destination.
• The dimensions of the envelope are 12 1/2" X 9 1/2".
• The contents of the flat rate envelope must be confined within the envelope, using the flap adhesive as the primary means of closure.
• The flap must close easily, adhere to the envelope and be secured with tape if desired.
• The design and shape of the envelope may not be altered or enlarged in any way to fit the contents.

Boxes
• The Priority Mail Flat Rate Box is $7.70 for any U.S. destination.
• The inside dimensions for the two boxes available are 11" x 8.5" x 5.5" and 13.625" x 11.875" x 3.375".
• The contents of the flat rate box must be neatly contained inside of the box with adhesive packaging tape.
• The box must close securely and retain its shape when taped with adhesive.
• The shape of the box may not be changed or enlarged to fit its contents.


So if we need to go to boxes, it is probably better to have them weigh the box and pay the postage that way than to do the flat rate......

That's funny. They had no problem changing the shape to stuff my last cj envelope into my mail box! (Don't worry, journal was ok, but I think I'll get a new envelope before reshipping.)

I've been meaning to let people know, you may want to write DO NOT BEND on the envelopes.

Even writing "DO NOT BEND" on it doesn't work with my carrier. She refuses to get out of the car or even take the time to give me a slip saying to come pick it up at the office. She'll bend anything - even things that will fit if put in at an angle when there's nothing else in the box! She makes me nuts!

Here's another idea....there is a large mylar priority envelope that you can use for up to 2 lbs - for only $3.95! Of course the mylar bends....but why not put the regular cardboard envelope inside the mylar one? Also, I don't think they care about you changing the shape of those as I've received things (from Bargain Pack LOL) where the mylar was taped into a much smaller shape.

OOO, I wish I would have known that envelope would have only cost me $3.95 to mail my Ride swap stuff out in. I ended up mailing it in the priority box for $.7.70 yeah well it was money well. At least I knew my stuff should make it safely and couldn't be shoved in Emily's mailbox. Unlike my priority envelope which was shoved and mangled into my mailbox. It looked like it had been through the war.

Thank you very much for the link. DH has been after me to try to sell some baby stuff on E-Bay and I have been dragging my feet because I didn't know how to figure the shipping. Now I have no excuse to get to work and put up those items to sell. Wait a minute, so I am thanking you? : Just kidding, I need to think of the money I can make!
