I am buying tickets for my son and his girlfriend who will be stopping by Disneyland during their road trip to California. I am printing out the tickets after purchasing online. How do they use the fastpass system? Do they trade in the paper for a "real" ticket at the turnstile? I don't usually do it this way, so just want to be sure to give them the correct information! TIA!

At the turnstiles, they will be given hard tickets that they can use to get fastpasses.

Just to clarify, read the "voucher", if it has a bar code and says to take directly to the turnstiles, do NOT redeem them early, as the first day will be on the date printed.

On the other hand, if it is a voucher that says you need to take it to "Guest Relations/Ticket Booths", those can be redeemed a day early.

Wherever it is redeemed, you will get a credit card sized cardboard ticket to use during the entire stay and for use in the FastPass machines. Also if it is a multi-day ticket, be prepared to have your photo taken, and write your name on the cardboard ticket at the turnstiles.

If you have a smart phone you do not even need to print them, they are loading to your account and can be scanned from your phone (via the Disneyland app).
