Principal calling parents about kids xanga site

What do you think about the actions of the principal in the following post?

  • she is correct in what she did

No the internet isn't illegal, but guess what is. Slander.

I don't believe slander is a crime, but it is actionable in civil court. Some forms of speech, like threats, could lead to criminal charges.
 
This reminds me of something I learned in high school when we were discussing rights. You have many rights in this country, but those rights only extend to the point where you are not endangering someone elses rights. I'm not sure on the wording but it was something like that. I mean by all means have a xanga site, write about your life, but be safe and be smart.
