I have been a lacto-ovo vegetarian for four years and have had some great and some horrible experiences with Disney dining over the years so I just thought I would share some of my experiences from my last trip. I meant to take pictures of everything I ate, but for the most part I ended up forgetting, so there are some pictures, but not a ton!

Day 1:

We arrived at Pop Century by Magical Express around 11am. We had been up since 4:30am so we were starving! We headed straight to the Pop Century food court, Everything Pop. I just have to say that I was so impressed with the food court here. This was my 3rd stay at a value resort and they just have the best food courts. I have only stayed at one moderate (Riverside), which had a decent food court. I would take the food courts at the values to those at the mods and deluxes any day, there is so much more to choose from.

Anyway, I had a sundried tomato calzone. It was huge! It had a blend of cheeses (ricotta, mozzarella, etc.) and sundried tomatoes and came with marinara sauce for dipping. It was great, maybe a little too garlicy, but very good. The cheese was great and it had a really good flavor.

For dinner we headed to Beaches and Cream. We arrived at 5:30 and I was concerned that we might have to wait as they don't take ADR's. We were seated immediately and there were literally only two people in the entire restaurant, kind of creepy actually for a normally busy place! This was definitely a great time of year to go to Disney, I wish we could go every year at this time.

Here I got the veggie burger with cheese on it with fries. It was good. I am not certain, but it definitely tasted like a Boca Burger, which I like. I did remember to get a shot of this one:

I am a huge fan of veggie burgers, and am not too hard to please in this category, but I would definitely say this was a good one.

For dessert we had the No Way Jose. This was chocolate and vanilla ice cream with peanut butter and chocolate sauce with whipped cream and chocolate chips...amazing!! The four of us shared it and we barely finished it!

I can't figure out how to rotate the picture, so here's a sideways No Way Jose:

We will definitely return to Beaches and Cream. The Beach Club is my favorite Disney resort so we always stop by there if we're not staying there and now that I know they make a great veggie burger we will definitely be back!

Thanks for this. Where did you eat on the other days? Any other recommendations :sunny:

I'm gonna keep going, but on the other days we ate at Liberty Tree Tavern, Kona Cafe, Mama Melrose, Animators Palette (Saratoga Springs) and at the food court at Pop a lot more.

I love Beaches N Cream!! It's usually jammed when we to there - we go the beginning of October and the beginning of May. DH and I got the kitchen sink once - just the two of us!! :cool1:

I think we must have gotten lucky. We were in WDW October 11-16 (yes, the reviews are a little late) and Beaches and Cream was deserted! I can't believe you got a kitchen sink with just two people!! How much of it did you finish?

Hooray - more vegetarian reviews! I tried posting on your other reviews, but for some reason was not permitted to do so. WOw, that Jose looks good!

You mean my reviews from August? Maybe the thread was too old or something? :confused3

I was confused too - finally gave up, but they were great reviews! :thumbsup2 I am glad you are writing more and that I can post to this thread! :)

Enjoying reading your reviews ~ Thanx for sharing.

Day 2

Breakfast: We headed down to the food court for breakfast today. I really made good use of my refillable mug between coffee, hot chocolate and iced tea. We weren't going to the parks much this trip because we were here to visit my sister. My sister moved to Orlando in August and works for WDW (at the Contemporary). So we were here just to see her, not to do Disney. Because of this we slept in every morning which worked out quite well as the food court was never crowded. I had read about long lines and it being crazy in the food court, but we ate breakfast every day around 11 and it was deserted.

Anyway, I had a waffle. Waffles are one of my favorite foods, and this one said "POP" on it, how can you beat that? It was supposed to come with strawberry topping and whipped cream, but I like my waffles plain. It was very good. It was made to order so it was hot and fresh...mmmm!!

Lunch: I can't really do a lunch review today. Since my sister works for Disney we just hung out at her apartment today getting ready for MNSSHP. So we just ordered a pizza to her apartment for lunch. I can say that the Orlando Papa John's makes a good pizza!

Dinner: Liberty Tree Tavern
I had heard so much about LTT for dinner before MNSSHP and I really wanted to eat there but I was somewhat concerned being a vegetarian. I had nothing to worry about!

First our drinks were brought. There were little pumpkins on the tables for Halloween!

Next there was a tossed salad and white dinner rolls. Both were great. The salad was very fresh and the rolls were hot and fresh too! My only complaint was the dressing on the salad. It was a strawberry vinaigrette and I didn't really care for it. I asked if they had any other dressing and they didn't. It wasn't a big deal, I just prefer ranch or italian on my salad. I didn't take this picture of the salad until it was half gone.

Next they brought the meat (turkey, beef, and pork) along with maccaroni and cheese, mashed potatoes, green beans. I spoke with our waitress about vegetarian options. She said all the food was vegetarian (except the meat of course!) and nothing had any meat broth in it or anything. She also brought me a dish called Amber Waves of Grain. It was something that reminded me of cous cous, but she said it was kinwa (I have no idea how to spell that). Anyway, it was way, way too salty and I just stuck mostly with the mac 'n cheese, green beans, and potatoes which were all very good.

Dessert was apple cobbler. Sorry, no picture, it was practically gone before I had a chance! It was seriously that good. I loved it.

At dinner we met Minnie, Pluto, Goofy, Chip, and Dale. All had on some type of holiday attire.

I am the ballerina, my sister is the red-headed wench from Pirates of the Caribbean, and my best friend is Meg from Hercules.

The characters were all great! Goofy was the best. He came up to me and made me dance around the whole room with him! They were all perfect, they just made the meal. I LOVED dinner here. The food, the characters, everything, it was so, so much fun. It is one of my favorite memories of the trip, we will definitely go back.

Any questions feel free to ask...

You are adorable!!!!!!!!! And I love the way you write - you are so positive about everything :wizard: :wizard:

Thank you! I try to be positive, it's not hard when I'm talking about Disney.

Thanks for the vegetarian reviews, I cannot wait to read the rest!

Day 3

There's not all that much to share today, and I don't have any pictures.

Breakfast/Lunch: Breakfast was in the Pop Century food court once again. We really slept in this morning and didn't get down there until about 11:30 so I decided to just eat lunch. I had an individual cheese pizza. Nothing fancy, but it was good. You can't really go wrong with pizza!

Dinner: Kona Cafe

We arrived at Kona Cafe about 15 minutes early for our 6:00 ADR and the place was packed! Walk-ups were being turned away. We checked in and were given a pager. We shopped around in the gift shop, which seems to be Disney's whole goal in making you wait for your table!

Anyway, we ended up waiting 20 minutes for a table. I have always loved this restaurant and I think the word got out, we rarely have to wait here. The Polynesian is one of my favorite Disney resorts and I just love the atmosphere of Kona Cafe, overlooking the lobby.

For dinner first I had the Kona salad. It had blue cheese, strawberries and almonds. It was a really great salad. I loved the almonds on it. It was pretty large though and I could have easily split it with someone. Next I had the Pan-Asian pasta. This was Asian noodles with vegetables in a stir-fry sauce. This normally comes with chicken, which I of course skipped. I always find it unfair that if you get pasta or salad or some other dish without the chicken you are still charged the same price. There should be seperate prices depending on whether you get the chicken or not. This too was very good. The stir-fry sauce was great, very flavorful. Compared to the salad this dish was pretty small and I easily finished it on my own. We skipped dessert and headed down to Captain Cook's for Mickey bars instead!

We pretty much eat at Kona Cafe every trip. We just love the atmosphere and the food and we have never had a bad expereince here-we will definitely be back!

I think I've read your reviews before, and they're enjoyable as always.

(By the way, I think it's quinoa, a grain-like seed from South America. I'm sorry the dish didn't taste as good as it looked.)

Thanks for the veggie reviews! I'm thinking of going to LTT next trip, and I actually think I might skip the veggie dish and just eat all the sides- it seems like plenty!

Yes, I think that's what it was, quinoa.

singingpixie...the sides were definitely plenty. I just figured I might as well try the vegetarian option.
