Princess Suite?

wouldn't it be incredible to spend a night in the DL apartment over the firehouse where walt ACTUALLY stayed???

never happen though - guess that apartment over the gallery will be as good as it gets there...

Why not? The Castle Suite would be a goldmine for Disney.

it is generally believed and rumored, that the suite will be used for Some special needs Wish kids, and will still be given as a prize to a lucky guest most nights.

Since the fact that the suite is not available at any price has been settled there is another sore point that I would like to address.

So many times that space has been referred to as the place that was originally intended for Walt. Walt died in 1966. Construction never started until at least a couple of years after his death, so, no it was never intended for Walt's use. It might have been intended for Roy or other family members, but, unless Walt haunted it or there was an exceptionally large Freezer in there:rotfl:. Anyway, it is misleading and it is carried even further by the Disney commercial that states that it was designed by Walt.

The room that Walt was involved with is the one at Disneyland. It has been done up for the YOAMD and Walt had originally intended it as a place to entertain VIP's. He had his apartment over the firehouse, remember?

um, sorta... some construction at WDW had started before Walt's death, and a lot of the designs were far along when construction started. I am probably not remembering correctly, But in Marty Sklar's book, wasn't the upstairs at the firehouse in WDW originally the PR department? And that area in the castle was originally intended to be a castle suite, but with Walt's passing Roy didn't want to "waste" the money on it.

I know that the area the WDW castle suite is in now, used to be where the phone operators sat. Of all things, I was on a Children's only tour about how WDW uses Energy and we got to go up that rickety elevator to see the operators. It escapes me why the Energy tour would care about the operators... but I recall it distinctly. This was in '78 I think it was. '79 maybe.

I soooooo dislike talking about anything DISNEY with a person who knows Nothing about Disney but will tell you they know Everything about Disney!!!!!
It just boggles the mind to hear the junk that comes out of their blowholes!
I am very sorry you had to spend a part of your life being aggravated by a know-it-all.....
And what a shame, her neice just cried and cried...poor baby:rotfl:
BTW, I would take Laney1 up on his suggestion. I would walk up to your neighbor's door, ring the bell and politely ask her if she can make a reservation for you or if she could get you the phone number to make the reservation....But don't let it slide! Every time you see her, ask her, hey, did you get that number for me? She'll know not to bug you next time with her stupid stories:sad2:

My favorite is when people say, "yeah, we've been to Disneyworld before...we were down in FL visiting friends/relatives and we decided to hop on over to WDW.....we did all four parks in one day".

PLEASE!!! Why would you even waste your time?!! (and money!)

What's this other suite they talk about in the commercial you see lately, and don't say it's the one in the Castle because they show that first and then they show later where the family is standing infront of a window/balcony looking outside, and it looks nothing like the castle suite. From the way the commercial plays it sounds like it's on another part of the property. Does anyone know what I'm talking about? I guess it's also up for winning for YOMD as well, is this in DL or is it WDW also?

People crack me up. Maybe it was a luxury resort and she felt like a princess. But there is only one castle suite just like there is only one wdw. I read somewhere that lots of celebraties had called to see if they could book it and were willing to pay big money and Disney said no it is reserved for YOMD winners.
Thats nice to know that money and status can't buy everything :woohoo:

That is the apartment over the firehouse in DL, I believe. I have read that this was also a private apartment for Walt's family at one time. I read a book which said that whenever the lamp was on in the window, the CMs knew Walt was on property. After his death, the lamp was turned on every night as a tribute.

um, sorta... some construction at WDW had started before Walt's death, and a lot of the designs were far along when construction started.

Walt had originally included the private apartment in the plans, which is why it is referred to as intended for Walt. I have read that at one time it was used for operators, and at another as a changing area for characters.

Thats at DL. It is a suite that Walt had started to design for special guests of his, but it never happened. So they finally did it and thats where DL winners stay now.
