Princess Storybook dining options

We must dine with the princesses as one of DD4's top 5 must do's. She has a lunch at CRT with just her Daddy, as their special thing. But we can't seem to find any other dining opportunity with all the other princesses (Belle, Snow White, Ariel, Sleeping Beauty, etc) other than Princess Storybook.

Now, I have an 6:05 dinner ADR for my family of 5 on 9/18 which I have slated for an Epcot day (we are not hopping). I'm starting to get nervous however, after reading mostly negative reviews about the food offered.

I am thinking of changing to a breakfast with Princess Storybook on the same day but the time isn't great for interrupting our "ride time" in the AM before the park gets crowded.

The easiest thing would be to keep my dinner ADR. Has anyone eaten there and LIKED the food? Is it tolerable? I like seafood, but not strong fish flavor (mostly mild white fish and shrimp). I don't like mayo-based sauces or cold dishes, which from what I've read, this seems to be what they offer. Should we switch to a breakfast on a different day or just stick with dinner?

Any first hand advice would be GREATLY APPRECIATED!

Thanks!

We liked the food. I had the salmon, DH had the meatball thing, grandma and BIL had pasta, and MIL had lamb. I'm sure someone will correct me if I'm wrong, but I don't think Ariel is there at breakfast. Eating here and seeing the princesses was a lot better than waiting in the line at the Judge's tent.

From reading threads on this, it sounds like Ariel only appears for lunch and dinner. For my DD, that settles the debate. The family gnoshes on Norwegian fare, and might have to fill up on salad and dessert, but all done in the name of love for DD. ;)

Heck, even Benji ate the measly berries in the Benji movie so the cougar cubs could eat the sausages!! (We watch WAY too many kids' movies, I know...) If a dog can sacrifice.... I know we can! :rotfl2:

And we *do* get the perk of NOT having to stand in line in the Judges' Tent or Ariels Grotto for sigs! Wa HOOOOOO!!!

I thought the food was delicious! The "cold" stuff is the appetizer, it's a buffet of things like tomato salad, herring, cucumber salad, beet salad, smoked fish (salmon and trout and herring), cheeses (goat, jarlsburg, muenster), crackers, breads, meats (turkey, sausage), tossed salad with ranch dressing and maybe a vinagrette. You'll choose your entree from a menu (www.allearsnet.com) The salmon I had there in June was delicious (lunch option- soup and sandwich). My husband loved the Kjottkaker (it's like meatloaf). Adults can order adult portions from the kids menu which is full of more "american" selections. The desserts are very good, IMO and each of us enjoyed a different one- they are brought on a large plate and you share with your family.
You can't beat the opportunity to see 5 princesses over dinner, IMO.

Personally I didn't like, but I'm not an adventurous eater either. The Princess interaction was great we had Cinderella, Alice, Mulan, Aurora and Jasmine. We didn't see Ariel for lunch that day. It was great, so we are going to try a late breakfast this time.

For entrees, there is a pasta dish with creamy pesto and vegetables that is acceptable at dinner. The salmon is OK too. You will also find lots of regular stuff on the cold appetizer buffet in addition to the Norwegian specialties. You'll find plenty to eat!

I don't know if it matters to you, but I wanted to mention that you are not guaranteed to see a particular princess at the meal. At our dinner last December, we saw Belle in her gold dress (the photo op as you enter), Jasmine, Mary Poppins, Cinderella, and Aurora. No Ariel that night. All the princesses we did see were very nice and good about getting good poses with my niece and nephew. Have fun!
