Princess Storybook - Akershus - Breakfast or Lunch???

I wanted to do lunch here but I keep hearing how horrible the food is. My daughter would love to see Ariel which is why I say lunch and not breakfast. Should I just not worry about seeing Ariel and do breakfast???

Also, I did look at the menu and there are a couple of things that sound good but I have never had Norwegian food so honestly I am not sure.

Any thoughts??? Thanks

Went December 2007 for breakfast and Ariel was there...and the food was enjoyable!

I have been at lunch and dinner and both times Ariel was there and both times the food was pretty good! Don't skip it on account of the food selections. They sound weird but they're actually really good.

I've been told they have a cold bar with regular deli meats and cheeses. So you can always fall back on that if you can't find anything on the menu you like. We are trying it for the first time in November!

We did Akershus for dinner last year and we're going back and doing it for breakfast this time. I didn't care for my meal, but my dh enjoyed his meal. He had the Traditional Kjottkaker which is a ground beef and pork patty served with garlic mashed potatoes.

We were there for lunch last year...didn't really care for the food. Ariel was not there when we were there.

Went there for lunch once....thought my money was wasted big time. We have been to the breakfast two or three times, and it is good standard food.

We're going for lunch. My dh doesn't like eggs, so the breakfast seems kind of a waste to me. I figure the cold bar is enough to fall back on. Also, I could ask for pasta with marinara (I believe they have it) if I really couldn't go for the other meals. Also, that kjo-whatever it is meal sounds interesting I think I've read mostly good things about the desserts too.
I know we won't starve and I figure it will be an adventure.
Oh, also a neighbor of mine disliked the breakfast there, so that probably influenced me a little too.

We had lunch there and thought it was fine. Certainly not our favorite meal of the week but not terrible. I had a chicken and veggie dish which was fine and my DH had the Traditional Kjottkaker which he liked. There is also the cold bar which has lots of salads, cheeses, etc. for nibbling on if you are not crazy about the main course. I am a semi-picky eater and was fine there.

As for Ariel, I think she appears at breakfast sometimes but is definitely more of a regular at lunch from what I have read. Of couse, characters are subject to change at any meal.

This is what I had last September, for lunch. I thought it was very good, tasted pretty much like meatloaf to me. The desserts were yummy. We did see Ariel.

We're going for breakfast because the lunch menu didn't really appeal to us. I hope we luck out and see Ariel as DD really wants to see her.

we ate there last year for lunch, and are going back this Sept. It was one of the first Res. I made. We loved the food, and they even gave our 2 year old his choice of children's meals at no charge. He had a hot dog, and 4 year old had pizza.

I always have the Kjottkaker, I love it. I wouldn't compare it to meatloaf-or maybe a cross between meatloaf and salibury steak??? The veggies it comes with are wonderful-I've had the beets (sounds gross but it's good) and asparagus. The kids pizza is pretty good, my daughter likes it. I think most people don't like this restaurant because they opt for the American fare here and from what I've seen it's not that good. You order chicken breast you get what appears to be a boiled chicken breast. Stay with the classic Norwegian fare, you'll love it. The cold bar has pasta salad, cold cuts, beet slaads, a green salad, plus lox and other fish. The best part is you get great character pics and a take home photo package:

At lunch the entries were good... you just need to have the waiter explain what they are so you know what your getting. The deli bar was nasty.... the meats were fine but stay away from the cheeses...

As for Ariel... I think if your only going for Ariel that you might be better off just going to Ariel's groto in MK and seeing her there... not to mention at the groto she has her fish fins.. In Norway she has legs (when she shows up).

I kind of liked trying new cheeses I hadn't eaten before. I didn't like all that I tried, but I did find one that I really enjoyed and wouldn't have otherwise tasted. There was one that I really really didn't like, blech, LOL. As for Ariel, we also thought it was fun to see her with legs. But then we've been to Disney many times and have always seen her with a fin, so Ariel with legs was something new for us.

It's a good point to make though, legs vs fin. I can imagine that some little girls would be expecting to see Ariel with her fin. In that case Ariel's Grotto is the place to go. We like to check the times guide and try to be there close to opening so we don't have a long wait.
