PRINCESS Palooza 2011! 9/9 Update: Departure Day

Loving all your pictures from the rides. Waiting in anticipation for your princess pictures.

I'm Telling!!!!

Imagine the uproar we can create with both of us telling! :rotfl:

Loving all your pictures from the rides. Waiting in anticipation for your princess pictures.

Thanks Glennie! I can't believe I'm 20 pages into this and still not done with the first day. I wish I could tell you a princess gown is coming up really soon, but that won't happen until our first MVMCP, our 3rd park day.

I may have a decent Capt. Jack pic too and I may have gotten it by using my flash as well... :rolleyes1 But I have a good excuse... You know he is at the very end of the ride, right? Well, we got stuck there as the ride got backed up trying to get people off. Well after a couple of minutes of sitting there, I figured all bets were off and I went for it. I mean the ride mood was already lost by us just sitting there looking at the exit anyway, right? :rotfl: I set off a chain reaction though as everyone in our boat started flashing away. :rolleyes1 I guess I am just a trouble maker. :stir: I promise I don't make a habit of that though!

BTW, thank you Janet for the camera advice. However, it looks like once again my camera shopping is on hold. My DD accidently fell onto my laptop last night and broke the screen. I've only had it a year! :sad2: I'm still in a bit of shock. All of my pictures from my trip are on there and I had already edited about 3,000 of them. I still have them on my camera cards, but I will have to reload everything and do all that editing over again. It makes me sick to even think about all that time lost. Anyway, the Geek Squad says it's not worth fixing as it will cost me $400-500 to replace the screen. So I guess my camera money will be going into a laptop instead. It just isn't in the cards for me to get a new camera right now I guess. :guilty:

Love the updates. I kept checking the thread while we were at Disneyland. LOL Your photos are amazing. I really need to learn how to use my camera on the dark rides.

BTW, at our breakfast at the Plaza Inn last Saturday for my sister's birthday we met 11 characters. It was awesome. We met Minnie, Pooh, Tigger, Eeyore, Rafiki, Chip, Dale, Max, Perla, Capt. Hook, and the Fairy Godmother. I couldn't believe there were that many characters there. We had the first dinning reservation time and were actually the first ones in. I highly recommend eating there if you plan to go back to DL.

Well, we'll have to get a ruling on the field on your flash violation.....

Jen? :chat: What do you think?

As for the laptop. Oh man I feel your pain. We lost a screen on our very first laptop. Back then they cost enough it was worth fixing. But it was expensive. It's so old now it's stuffed in a closet somewhere and affectionately known in our house as the "craptop".

If things change again and you find yourself camer shopping, let us know. We'd all love to spend your money for you!

Welcome back! How many days were you there?

What an awesome character-fest you had! And I think it's cool that just about anybody could show up. I'm GASP growing a little weary of the character options at WDW, especially the meals. Predictability is one thing, but things are a little TOO predictable any more. I'd love to have them add a meal like the Plaza where just anybody could show up. Heck, I'd probably eat there several times in a given trip! The could GASP ditch Pooh and friends and put it in the Crystal Palace. :duck:

Do they do early park entry with the Plaza Inn?

Luvin all the pics and pirate Goofy! I missed him on my last trip

HMMM. I think Rinky might need to be burned at the stake for that one too...after all she set off a chain reaction! ;)

I was glad we found him..... and that his line was short enough to stop. We only had a few minutes or we would have been trapped in Adventureland until the end of the parade.

OK, maybe we should offer an amnesty period for anyone else who wants to confess???? :rotfl:

I probably have a few dark ride flash photos from years ago. There. I said it. Anybody else????

:lmao: Wow you girls are harsh! :lmao: Burned at the stake? But the ride was stopped for several minutes! That should at least gain me some leniency shouldn't it? :rotfl:

But while we are confessing... I also took flash pictures throughout the entire ride on Splash Mountain one time, BUT we were the only ones on the ride, so that doesn't count does it? :confused3

Ok, I think I am done with confessions... for now. :rolleyes1

Hey Carey.......

:p

And.... on top of that....... next time there's a thread on flash photography over on the theme parks board..... I'M OUTING YOU!

I'm Telling!!!!

I'll run and hide! yOU'LL NEVER FIND ME! Hahahahaha

I think the statue if limitations has run out for prosecution! Do I need a good lawyer? My defense, I was a newbie!

You guys are so funny. I have to say I have probably taken a flash picture at some point too, most likely in one of those situations. In fact I know I have when it was just us riding something...I just can't remember which ride, so it must've not come out very good. :rolleyes1

Just noticed you started a new trip report. DD and I LOVED your last one with all of Katie's fabulous costumes and clothes. :goodvibes

Fabulous photos on HM. I can't wait to see your scrapbook pages for this.

I've hot my heart set on a Dole Whip next month. I narrowing down what snack I want from each park.

What a disappointment that must have been. I always suspected they tried for a traditional 4 or 5 person family. I've read accounts of smaller groups, but they tend to be the exception.

They do still do the princess of the day at DHS. If you didn't know to watch for it though, you wouldn't know it was going on. It's at the very end after they take their bows, and the girl is usually so short you can't see her through all the crowds standing to leave.

My suspicion is that they seem to have the princess of the day chosen ahead of time. They used to always pick one at the rope when they let people in, but now it always seems to be pre-selected.

I know I'm trying to decide if we give it another attempt this year.... probably is getting up that early, V is only 5. if we don't get it, we'll go to Chef Mickeys for 7:30 and then head back to MK and do a couple hours then back to the resort for an early nap.

Good to know about princess of the day thanks!

Janet,
I am going to attempt a Mary Poppins costume since V is completely enamored at the moment. What kind of material would you suggest for the underskirt part? It was suggested to use broadcloth which we can, just seems a little plain, and I don't know just not right, what kind of material did you use when you made katies a few years ago (Jolly holiday)?
TIA

I KNEW IT! :lmao:

BTW< I swear that I've not done it since, nor will I again!

LOL! TRUCE!!!

The truth is that non-flash photos are actually far better than flash photos on dark rides anyway.

I wonder if they ever set anyone up down in Orlando in witness protection.....:rolleyes1 Although if the idea was to be somewhere nobody would think to look for you, that might not be a good idea for me.

:welcome: glad you found us! And you're just in time. I'm not even through the first day of 10 yet!

Hey Vanessa. I've been thinking about you and hoping you're doing ok.

I hope you find some magic at WDW and enjoy some close time with your family. Think of me when you have that Dole Whip, OK? :)

No problem. If you give it a go, let me know how it works out!

I use a high quality white satin under the sheer fabric on my Mary costumes. It seems like a waste of effort to use something as thin as broadcloth, even if you are putting something over it.

I actually made a Mary Poppins for this trip too. And it turned out to be one of my favorites from this trip.

Can't wait to see it!!!!
V is so into Mary Poppins right now, I actually watched the movie with her last night, first time I've seen it since I was a kid. She was so excited.

After finding a thread on making it, the idea seems easy enough, of course I don't sew at all. My mom is going to do it, mind you she hasn't done anything more than hem pants in probably 15 years. (so we'll see how it turns out :headache:) Regardless, I know she's going to love it!

I'll keep the satin in mind, The problem is we are going in July and she would be so hot in the costume, but she also wouldn't be wearing it all day either so we'll see! Thanks for the advice!
