PRINCESS Palooza 2011! 9/9 Update: Departure Day

Just for grins I pulled out Robbie's cap and gown from last year. Thankfully it's still WAY too big!

How about a little flashback fun??????? ALLLLLL the way back to preschool graduation in 2006:

Sigh........ it all has gone WAY too fast.

Oh, Janet, you slay me! How could it all go so fast? Eve will be starting middle school in just three years. And those will fly by! Where's my four year old?!

So glad you have these wonderful pictures and memories (and that you have inspired others of us to do the same). Those will most certainly last a lifetime!

I can't wait to take some photos with Merda now. I'm happy with how it turned out. I think I'm going to try my hand at the turquoise one too so Katie can meet Merida with her friend dressed up as well. We'd meet her in the green early in the week on our own, then later in the week we'd let the friend wear the green and Katie could try the other.

I haven't gotten it back on Katie. But it's done:

Wow! You are amazing! :worship:

I'm a pretty faithful reader of you TR but I'm coming out of my lurkdome to comment on how beautiful your Merida dress is. Seriously, amazing!!! I can't believe what a wonderful job you did especially on the sleeves. I hope Katie really enjoys wearing it and I can't wait to see the pix.

We leave for our next WDW trip in 45 days! I'm super excited but a little stressed about how humid it will be. We were there in 9/2010 and it almost killed us :-)

No merida dress for us this time. We're sticking with cool and comfy!

We got to meet Merida at a special event they were doing in Hollywood for the movie. If you want to see pix you can check them out on my blog:

That dress is perfect! Reminds me! We finally got Cortlyn one! Need to upload the pictures!! I got her the blue one from Target. She was in LOVE. Had to hold the bag the whole way home and then wanted to wear it for 2 days straight!

Sorry to be so slow to reply. I spent the past week sick. I'm starting to drag myself out of it, but have been behind on almost everything.

Oh my goodness that is amazing! I wish I had an ounce of your talent!

Thanks! I really enjoyed putting that one together.

OMG!!! That dress is AMAZING!!! You rocked it. :):thumbsup2

Thank you! The best part is that Katie really seems to like it. :goodvibes

Yay, thanks for the welcome! :)

It was awful. I was given tix to the CP by a friend, and the second it was about to start, it just started pouring. And I just couldn't handle it (especially since that meant I couldn't take pictures ;)) and then every CP after that, it started pouring just as it was about to start. I stood in that area of Epcot under cover just waiting it out all night, lol. But yea, nothing was as bad as that cold the year before. No one would believe me hen I said windchill was in the teens the day we went to WWoHP!

Oh NO! I would have been really disappointed not to get to photograph the CP. We haven't been but the photos I've seen are really beautiful.

Really though, if you can take that one day of rain out of the mix, last year's weather was picture perfect. No complaints from me. Besides, I got a great new shirt and Splash Mountain t-shirt to bring home! :lmao:

I didn't even know she was meeting until I saw your last report, and totally kicked myself since I would have asked around when she'd be out the days we were at the MK that trip. Now it's the one reason I want it to be cold on a future trip in my MK day!! ;)

Well, apparently it doesn't even have to be cold! Who knew? I was just really glad she was out in her Jolly Holiday dress the day we brought Katie's. I hope you find her in her red on your next trip!

BTW, as a fellow character hunter, I was wondering if it was ok if I shared a site I just started with pics all the characters I've met at Disney? I know you're a scrapbooker, too, and I also have my character layouts on the site, as well. But I wanted to ask first, I don't want to hijack your thread, lol.

And the Brave dress is AMAZING! I saw some girls wearing the Brave dress they sell at the parks on my last trip, and this is way better. :)

Sure feel free to share. I'd love to see them! And yes, the scrapbooker in me loves to see others' character shots.

Thanks for the kind words on the dress. :goodvibes

Back from disney, had an amazing time and amazing character interactions at Park Fare and with Mary. Now I'm all ready to catch up on my favourite TR's!!!! LOVE the Merida Dress!!! It is just gorgeous!!!! I saw a coupld Meridas when we were there, the Parks dress is the same from the Disney store and the girls just looked sweltering.

Welcome back! I can't wait to hear all about your trip!

And thanks for the kind words. I can't even imagine any little girl wearing that costume in the parks this time of year. I'm thinking that in December, Katie will really enjoy wearing this one for a bit. It's a very soft comfy fabric.

Your latest creation is stunning, Julia thinks Katie will look beautiful in it!

Awww..... thank you! Tell Julia thanks too!

Okay, as you can see, I am WAY behind. But here I am! I am loving catching up on my favorite trip report ever!

Thanks Amy! Glad you're caught up!

I have a suggestion for how to get out of Sci fi this next time (or at least, how to get away with just stopping by Sci fi for a milk shake).

Make a reservation at Brown Derby and plan on sharing the Cobb Salad (out of pocket). I went with Eve and they were so nice about splitting our entree for us. Even with beverages, our entire lunch was just $20 + tip. That's not bad for theme park dining for two. And they brought the salad on two separate plates without our asking. After the meal, we were full. We didn't even have room left for the famous grapefruit cake.

Funny you should say that. I've been thinking of EXACTLY that plan. I was thinking of dropping our F! package at Mama Melrose and making an ADR at HBD (non F! package) and letting Drew spend the 2 credits to get the filet, but Katie and I just ordering off the menu and paying for it. All I want is that cobb salad and grapefruitcake! Wonder what they'd charge to make Katie a hot dog or some nuggets........:rolleyes1 At one point we had a sci-fi ADR to just get milkshakes but I've ditched that. Too many decisions! :rotfl:

We loved the ambience of the Brown Derby. So much fun! Eve and I pretended to be movie stars while we dined. You and Katie would enjoy the experience--I'm sure! Just imagine Clark Gable and Carole Lombard at one table, Lucille Ball at another table. Then, put on a pair of big Hollywood sunglasses as you stage your exit. :rotfl:

LOL! I've always been a huge fan of classic Hollywood. HUGE Clark Gable fan from way back, so it's funny you shouldsay that.

Oh, Janet, you slay me! How could it all go so fast? Eve will be starting middle school in just three years. And those will fly by! Where's my four year old?!

Well, just don't blink! That's all I have to say on the matter.......

My photography and scrapbooking hobbies really grew out of my desperation to find a way to freeze time. It's the best thing I've come up with yet.

This whole series of photos brought tears to my eyes. They are jubilant--exactly what Christmas and Disney and friendship are all about. I love them!

Thanks Amy! We did hae a ball that night. It was an amazing evening. It was so fun to see these girls, who are growing up WAY too fast........ just laughing and playing.

Wow! You are amazing! :worship:

Thank you!
Hey Heather!!!! :wave2: :chat:

 Go ahead and chat amongst yourselves..... :rolleyes1

:rotfl:

Ahh.... what an adorable little Brave fan you have at your house! Thanks for sharing the photos. And thanks for venturing out of lurkdom!

Yeah on getting back to the World so soon! My ticker has a lot farther to go. But it will be nice to have longer to savor the anticipation!

Good luck staying cool. I'll keep my fingers crossed for a cool front to move through Orlando in 45 days. Of course, it has been cooler there most of this summer than here in KC. It's been a REALLY bad summer here. And I just checked the extended forecast and they are calling for 100's nearly every day of the extended 15 day forecast. And they're probably right. I think we've only had a couple days with highs lower than 100 in the last 3 weeks. :faint:

I might have to go to Disney just to cool off! :rotfl:

Oh Janet! The final product looks fantastic!!!

All I'm going to be able to put together is a couple of easy sew tops for our next adventure.

DD wanted a new Ariel top made of the 1/2 smocked/1/2 regular fabric that JoAnn sells. It's really pretty but not near as fun as your patchwork skirts and appliqued tops! I'd love to put together a full wardrobe for her but time is a luxury I can't afford right now. Heck, I've had the fabric for at least a month now and no time to sew. Also found some Agent P fabric to make DS a pair of sleep pants.

Ugh.. I really need to get to work!

Janet, That is wonderful! We love it!

You are going to have to go through the M&G line twice.::yes::

Sorry you weren't feeling well, hope you're getting better!

Just gorgeous!!!!!!!!!!!

Thank you both!

I didn't make the blue one until we came up witha scheme. Katie and I will visit Merida with the green dress one of the days before we meet up with our friends. Then we'll bring both when we're with our friends and let them meet her together.

Then Katie decided to add on to our scheme...... she wants to ride Splash Mountain in their Merida gowns! :lmao: I'm totally in for something like that. I told her I'd take my lumps with the dresses and the water as long as they agreed to sit in the front row!

Thank you! And yes, comfort is job 1 on any of these that I make. Katie lets me know if anything is the least bit scratchy of wonky.

I'm surprised any little girl would dress up in the heat. But then I'm just cranky in the heat myself and doubt I'd get into the spirit anyway.

I'm pretty sure there is a parks version. I know I've seen them at the Disney Store and online. We bought a crown there to finish off the look.

Just now catching up. DW just said "she is amazing", "what a seamstress", and something else highly complimentary I've already forgotten. ;) I think it was "impressive".

ETA: And then we saw this:

I saw this and thought WHAT???? She was sneaking behind my back and sewing a dress???

And I was absolutely SPEECHLESS. I cannot WAIT to see them on Kate! And what a nice mommy you are to let them wear them on a ride! Those are just STUNNING. Perfect adaptations!

My only question…. Is Kate going to be wearing the white headcap? :rotfl2:

Thanks. :goodvibes I really ended up loving these gowns and am so glad I made them.

Oh yeah...the white head cap would be so funny for one picture at least! :rotfl2:

And LOL! When I asked Katie about making the blue one, the first thing she said was "But I'm NOT wearing the skullcap!" So there you have your answer!

I did threaten to make it as tight as the one in the movie, but she nixed that one too.....

I really had to make the blue one though. The hard part was making the pattern fit. Once it got it to fit for the green one, the blue one was SO easy to do. Katie is too big for little girl sizes, too small for adult sizes, so I have to cut the adult ones down. And that part's not real fun.

Awe, Kate is ruining all our fun!! :cutie:

I'm sure that its hard to fit her at this age/size. I cannot wait to see Katie in those dresses!
