Princess of Progress...It's a Great Big Beautiful Tomorrow TR 8/31-9/6

Day 2....Our first full day in WDW

Good Mornin' Sunshine....
IMG_2016.jpg

We started the day with breakfast in the Kona Cafe. It's a really great meal there. Lindsey had Mickey pancakes, I had French Toast and DH had Tonga Toast. I loved mine, but they didn't have fresh grapefruits. I remember having that at Kona last time...8 years ago.

Trying to recapture DH's Goofy shot from our Honeymoon...

We headed to the bus for the animal kingdom. Once we got there we headed straight to the Safari. That was a good tip because it was a crowded day and we got on there and got it over with very easily.

Next we went over to camp Minnie Mickey
Lindsey wanted nothing to do with Mickey, just Minnie so we waited for her.
I was really concerned with following my plan and getting in all the shows I wanted to see which ended up not being easy. The times all ran into each other. While we waited for Minnie the line for The Lion King grew very long and I started to worry I would get the show in. I became much more laid back later in the week :cheer2:

Lindsey with Pal Mickey...who barely said a thing. What was he supposed to do exactly?

This was our first time with the autograph book since I had forgotten it at the LTT.

Great start so far. Your DD has the prettiest hair. The decorated bed was so cute... a good idea!

What a cute back to school picture... I can tell you are a gymboree fan!

:hug:Video Link of AK shows:hug:

After seeing Minnie we went to the Lion King show. It was definitely one of my favorite show experiences. I love the Lion King music anyway and the show was so well done. The performers are so talented.
It was hard for me to get pictures...I was bummed. I still need so much practice with my camera.

Pocahontas was the next show we just stumbled across it as we moved on from the Lion King. Lindsey loved this one. She was mesmerized. It was a nice small crowd and the had the kid pit in the front and that makes the difference when wanting to hold a 4 year old's attention.

The Pocahontas had a beautiful voice

I have a fond memory with Lindsey about Pocahontas. We had all those little princess figures. There were 8 of them. Lindsey was about 2 years old. We were trying to find them all at the end of the day and we lost Pocahontas. I decided to call all over the house..."PocaHONtas, PocaHONtas" with an emphasis on the "HON" Lindsey was walking around copying me, but of course couldn't say Pocahontas, so she said..."AHKAH, AHKAH" So cute. Something probably I am the only one who will think it's cute.

We had lunch at PizzaFari next. It was a REALLY hot, humid and crowded day. We were starting to lose it a bit. I wanted to get the Nemo Musical in because I saw a behind the scenes about it and knew it would be great. DH was tired of shows though and he wanted to do more rides. We thought we'd go to Dino land, but it was the hottest part of the day and it seemed to be all right in the sun and way too hot. We left because Lindsey was cranky, and ended up at the end of the line for the next showing of Nemo. That led us to bad seats in the way back so I didn't get any good pictures, nor a good view.:sad2: In the end trying to do all the shows was a bit much, although being in the air conditioning was very necessary.

I too am enjoying your TR. I'm glad that you put in the links for your posts. It helped me catch up faster. Umm... You needed to warn me about the first day of school video! What a tear jerking song!!!:sad1: :sad1: My "little girl" is driving!
Great stuff so far. Your DD looks like she is having the time of her life. Her facial expressions says it all. That's what I liked most about taking my kids for the first time. The joy and excitement to see everything for the first time.

Awww.....what a sweet pic of Minnie and Mickey! :lovestruc Looks like the AK day was a blast! I love the AK! I wish they still had the boat ride that used to take ya all around the park. We never got to do it. Pooh and friends take up that area now. I hear Pocahontas is going away. Good thing you caught it this time. It's a GREAT show!

I love the Nemo show but love that its in AC more! LOL. Great shots tho, what kind of camera do you have?

Oh I loved this night. It was by far one of my faves.
From where I left off in my last Day 2 post I hadn't taken any more pics of AK. We went on the Kali Rapids before we left and we should have done it sooner. The rapids were fun. On the way out I had a frozen alcoholic beverage;) Which I NEEDED and Lindsey played around in the fountains and got soaked...which she NEEDED. She was dry by the time we got back to the bus-that's how hot it was.

To continue our cooling trend...after we got back to the Poly we went to the pool. To Lindsey that was the best part of the trip.
On the walk....

I love the picture of Lindsey on the beach with the castle in the background. That's so pretty! She had fun in the water now didn't she? So so cute! I got soaked on Kali myself and even wore a poncho since I was wearing denim capris. I knew it'd take forever for them to dry. Soaked or not it was fun. Can't wait to read more!!!

It's time for O'hana...the pool (and 2 MaiTai) helped me relax. Next we were off to dinner. While we waited we had Lindsey's Caricature done. DH and I had ours done during our DISmoon (I have to scan that pic). I think it looks just like Lindsey. What do you think?

I wasn't sure of the entertainment for the night, but I thought it would be characters. I'm glad I was wrong because the woman that was there was far better. AND we got Hula lessons. Check out the HULA video link to see that. Since it will be a long time before I'll get to Hawaii I figured this would be my only chance to learn Hula. Lindsey and I had been listening to Lilo and Stitch music and doing our own hula before the trip.
This was our entertainer...I forgot her name  Lindsey took this pic of her.
IMG_2311.jpg

Not only did we hula, but we danced around O'hana with maracas, did the limbo and coconut races. I loved that stuff. The food was really good too and we had an awesome view of the castle with our window seat.

Found your trip report from Farrah and Tammy's. You have awesome pics as well. Can I ask what kind of camera you were using? Your videos as well are very good.

Looks like you had a great time! I am subscribed so will be following along. Can't wait for more!

what great pics of you guys at Ohana! The caricature is really sweet- def looks just like her!

I love it when it's so hot at Disney that you don't mind getting wet because you know you'll dry off in a matter of minutes. Just don't wear denim!
I love the picture of Lyndsey squatting down to play with the sand! It's a great picture. The video of the hula was great!

We ended Monday with O'Hana and began Tuesday with them as well. They rose to my expectations again!! Certainly my most favorite character breakfast. AND I LOVE those Mickey waffles. Anyone have a picture for me? I tried to watch some of the Disney movies we hadn't seen before with Lindsey and Lilo and Stitch was one of them. Little did I know I would like it so much and so did she. I was psyched because I knew they were the characters at the Poly.

Love all the O'Hana pics! Tell me how to add the video stuff! I'm clueless to that kind of thing.

Did you like O'Hana better for Dinner or Breakfast?

Thanks so much everyone-It's so nice to be able to share every moment of my trip with people who are interested. All my RLF said glad you're home safe and the pictures are great. That was their extent of interest :sad2:

I have a Cannon Powershot S5 IS

Is that what you used for your videos as well or a seperate camcorder?

BTW our favorite was the character breakfast at the Poly, sooo much fun!! Keep the pics coming loving the report!

I use OneTrueMedia to upload my video files to and they have a code/link that I just link to using the world button in the posting box.
O'Hana was my favorite for both dinner and breakfast. I really liked it there.

The powershot cameras have a video setting and I video button that you can press if you are in the middle of taking pics and you want to take a video you can just press the button and not worry about changing the setting. That's all I used, but the clips took a lot of my battery power and card memory. If I didn't have dh's computer to download to at night I would have been in trouble.
