kida was dressed in her queen robes from the end of the film
(most likely because her main outfit might have sparked controversy from parents visiting the parks at the time).

I mean look at moana and ariel their outfits caused no controversy? But if kida dressed as one they caused controversy?

her film didnt well because

it had no singing (which she should shes already pretty maybe on fear?)

it had no kissing

it had no animal companions

Well, Atlantis: The Lost Empire isn't really a "Princess Movie" - it was an adventure film - it's also one of my favorites! Kida is a princess, but she's not a "Disney Princess" because characters from taht brand come from a different type of movie. Kida is more like Princess Leia, Now, would the movie have been more successful if it had been ina musical mold? Possibly, but they were deliberately trying to target another market.

Also, :welcome: to the DIS.

Disney Parks' Ariel is usually in a gown, and Moana's not controversial at all. I know Kida has at least appeared in Disneyland, in a full robe/gown thing. Looks like a Star Trek wedding dress.

Like BrianL said, Kida wasn't beholden to the same tropes as Disney princesses since Atlantis was a completely different kind of movie. Kida wasn't even the lead.

And besides, Helga was much cooler:

Her animation style also reminded me a little of Aeon Flux. (AF's creator Peter Cheung, who also worked on C.O.P.S, Rugrats, and more, actually used to work for Disney.)

And the primary designer on Atlantis was the great Mike Mignola, who did loads of great work for DC and Marvel before going off to Dark Horse to create Hellboy.

Well, I'm not sure about the costume, though it may have something to do with the weather. If it is cold, many of the princesses have an alternate - this happens more at Disneyland than at WDW since it doesn't get as cold in FL, but I know I've seen Ariel wearing a skin-tone long-sleeved top before too for outdoor appearances.

Welcome. :welcome:

What are you talking about? Context would be nice.

The movie is question is Disney's Atlantis: The Lost Empire from 2001, a notable failure that has a bit of a cult following. It's not a "princess movie" though and doesn't follow that template. The costume in question was probably deemed a bit too revealing for a Disney cast member to wear, so they used the more regal robes from the end of the movie.

I know the character :), I thought it was about a recent event where Kida appeared or something. As far as I know she hasn't shown in character greets in a while so I fail to see where any controversy could possibly be coming from haha. If we are just talking cast member costumes in general, then both Ariel and Jasmine have shown up with full tops with that skin colored fabric (not always, but sometimes). Same as how Aladdin has never shown up in just a vest.

Kida wise, well she is the only one with both a short top and a short skirt so I can see why the outfit would be too revealing (also probably uncomfortable for the cast member if we're honest). Jasmine, Ariel and Moana have either full pants or skirts.

I don't know if the OP was referring to anything recent, though I do think Milo and Kida have appeared at some special events in the years since the movie. They are not common though. Some images I found were from Disneyland Paris.

It is, and it plays a bit different in animation vs. a real person in the costume. That's why they often alter them a bit or use the skin-tone tops. Atlantis has such a unique style (as mentioned, designed by Mike Mignola) that a lot of it doesn't translate well to real life.

kida is so hot I'll bet she win a disney princess beauty pagent instantly top prize particularly swim suit category but overall she'll easily dominate the beauty pagent

If you're referring to the ABC series, there never was an Once Upon A Time Atlantis. There was Once Upon A Time and Once Upon A Time In Wonderland, both of which are no longer in production. There was also a series Stargate: Atlantis (also no longer in production), but that had nothing to do with Disney.

I think they just meant that Atlantis was mentioned, but I don't think it was the one from this movie. The Little Mermaid is typically from "Atlantica" but I don't know in the OUAT universe.

Hey be happy she shows up at all, some of us will never meet Eilonwy!
It’s possible that many kids would probably mistake her for Aurora. They already mistake the Evil Queen as Maleficent at times.

It would be pretty cool to see some Black Cauldron characters appear one day, apart from the animatronic Horned King at Tokyo Disneyland.
