Princess Dresses Question

I bought my DD a gorgeous dress/gown for her BBB/CRT ressies and I have a question. Is there a quick fix to the itchy fabric? As I was putting it on her I was thinking to myself "oh please don't let it be itchy!"...I think the main source of the problem is down the center chest. It's like an insert of different textured fabric and when I felt for myself I can see where it would indeed be less than comfy. I thought about having her wear a little cami underneath but I think she would really get warm and it might show.

The only thing I could think of would be to go to a fabric store and buy a piece of a really lightweight cotton fabric in a color that won't show underneath the dress. You could just sew a panel in to the chest area and that way she's not having to wear an entire shirt.

You could use a neutral color leotard. If it will be on awhile, you definitely want something under it. My DD always complains about it itching.

Here is a picture of the area. I think a leotard may show since the neck area fabric is sheer, but I may have her try one on with it in case.

You may be able to find one with a rounder neck...but if you get a flesh color one it may not be too bad. For a long day at Disney, it is definitely better to feel good than to look good - despite what Fernando may say ;)

Also, you could wear it except during the BBB/CRT functions for pics, and just put something on under it if it starts to bother her. That material can be itchy, and if they are uncomfortable, they can get grouchy (at least my princess does!)

DD just saw this on my computer screen.

"Wow! Can you make one of those Cinderella dresses w/ diamond snowflakes ?"

Uh-oh!

I would definately sew something inside to cover up the itchy part...had to do that with our Cinderella gown. A leotard could be troublesome when she needs to go to the restroom. A lightweight cotton cami would be cool enough but I agree it may show.

The dress is very pretty!

On a dress with a similar cut. I just got a lightweight cami and then cut/roll-hemmed the top. What you can do is use iron-on hem tape or just stitch it down. I just snipped it in the corners by the straps, rolled it, and stitched down the rolled hem. She wore the dress on a warm day and it worked out. The cotton kept her from getting all sweaty and sticky.

Gorgeous dress!!!!!

Thanks everyone for all of the suggestions (and the compliments!). I saw this dress (full length) on the main BBB thread here and fell in love with it. I found it on ebay with the tags still on it. I think it is a Deluxe Cinderella Wedding dress or something like that from 2008? I almost bought a Giselle wedding dress, it is gorgeous! The ones from ebay UK are even prettier though and you can grab one for about $40 (including shipping from the UK!)

Hi:
I would buy some iron on interfacing. It is what I use to cover the back of my machine embroidery on my kid's shirts. If you've ever purchased Gymboree items, it is in those shirts to cover all the itchy material. It comes in nude, white or black.

Have you ever ordered from the UK? I looked at their Disney site and saw a beautiful Sleeping Beauty and another pretty one on Ebay.co.uk. They don't have all that gold at the bottom of the dress that will fall off. I didn't take the time to try and figure out how much it would be in American dollars. Does anybody know how to buy from there?

I never thought to do this. Do I just look on ebay?

Yes, but scroll down to the bottom of the US home page and click on United Kingdom where it lists the other counties. You will have to sign in again. Their categories are rally different from our so just go to the Clothing, Shoes and Accessories section then type in Cinderella costume, Belle costume or whatever. They will probably come up under Fancy Dress. Check out that Giselle gown, it is gorgeous!!!!!

Here is the link to the Disney Store in the United Kingdom (you can see how their dresses differ from ours. I love the Fairies costumes!) I also see how the sizing is like ours on their site.
