How formal do the children dress for dinner? My little girl loves to wear her princess outfits (she is 5) and when we went to WDW last she wore one to our princess breakfast, so I know she will expect to wear them on the cruise. I just didn't know if that was accepted dinner wear.

I saw quite a few young girls in their princess dresses. They were very cute.

I saw lots, too. Is there a more appropriate place to wear a princess outfit than on Mickey's boat? I'd let her wear it everyday if she wanted.

My daughter (she was 11 months at the time) wore her princess dresses to every dinner and got a lot of attention from the servers. I got a great deal on them (70% off) at the Disney Store. She also looked so cute when she was dressed in the same dress as Snow White and Cinderella and had her picture taken. I also saw quite a few of little princesses on the ship also.

I have seen little girls dressed up in the princess outfits for dinner, and are they ever adorable!

Just got off the boat this Saturday, and yes, there were lots of little girls dressed in very forma l party dresses plus Disney Princess costumes.

Lots of little princesses dressed up on the cruise and they all looked adorable. Where better to where one than on the cruise and you can get such great pictures.

Those princess dresses are sooooo cute! Too bad my 15 & 10 yo DSs won't wear them! ;)

My daughter was Minnie Mouse for Halloween and wanted to wear that dress on the cruise. We are on the 4 day wonder, but I just didn't want her to look out of place in a Minnie dress. Since we are all wearing black and white that night, I thought her little polka dot dress would look nice with that. She's the youngest and is still young enough to get away with it ( I think). Thanks for the insight. Melissa

When you talk about Princess dress, do you mean actual dresses with the Princesses' pictures on them or the dress up dresses (or Halloween costumes). DD received a 3-pack of Princess dress up skirts/tops that she would love to wear, but I'm not sure if that's what your are talking about...

They are the ball gowns that the princesses wear. I guess they are sold mainly as Halloween costumes. I hope to get DD a Cinderella dress so that she can get her picture taken in the same dress as her favorite princess. :)

Melissa ~

Look at the pic in Lbgraves avitar. It's Minnie in a Ball gown with them! How cute will that look with your daughter in her Minnie Outfit? Minnie is the "It" girl on the ship. Your DD will look great!

The little girls look so sweet on the ship in their dresses!

You can buy these character/ball gown dresses at the Disney store, or at WDW. They have one for each Disney Princess- Belle, Cinderella, Snow White, Mulan, etc.. I just ebayed my DD's collection recently, as she's almost a teen now. So check eBay, some sell new ones at pretty good prices. Search by Disney costumes, or by Character name & click on clothing.

On our Halloween 2000 cruise, there was a very tall guy( 6'4") dressed as Tinkerbelle. Cute, no- funny, absolutely! Somehow, the princess outfit didn't become him as well as the little girls.... Got to give him credit though.... Up until that point, I had no idea Tink had a moustache!

To HLFDZN -

Your DD will fit right in in her Minnie Mouse costume! We saw several "mini-Minnies" while we were on our cruise. Hopefully you will have a chance to have your DD's picture taken with Minnie. Mickey and Minnie will certainly make a big deal out of her outfit!

Also most walmart toy sections have 3 different princess dresses (snow white (the cutest one) aurora and cinderella) for right under 20- but if your kids were like mine and lived in the dang things for months (we eventually bought 4 to rotate when she was sleeping) Id personally buy the WDW/DL ones as they are the most durable- yes they cost alot more but for us the per day rate was pretty low :)

Id second the thought of wearing them on board- It is soo fun to see :) not to count royal treatment :)

My DD 6, will be wearing her Cinderella ball gown on our formal night in Feb. She is thrilled!

Thank you for the replies about my little Minne. She was so proud to wear her costume on Halloween and tell everyone " I am wearing this on my cruise!" We have hung it up and kept it clean since then and she is excited. I am sure it will look great in the picture too and hopefully that can be our Christmas card this year! Thanks again! Melissa

Melissa (HLFDZN),

That is a great idea! You have many options to make this happen. We used a picture of our DD for our cards last year. For us, this was a very last minute decision in the middle of December. We used one of our Shutter's "formal" pictures with just DD in it. We printed out the photo release that we found out about on the DIS. We went to Walmart on a Saturday evening about 7:00 and had our cards in about 35 minutes. This was very inexpensive, and I thought they turned out fabulous.

I personally thought the mini Minnies where cuter than all the mini -princesses! Of course, it may be because my DD really had fun with one of the mini Minnies that we met on the ship. My DD is 9, and past the princess age.

THANKS for all the info!! We have about 4 or 5 different Disney costume dresses. I think we will just let her pack all of them and that be her main attire for the cruise. That will just make it all the more special to her.

My DD is 8 going on 9. We have 6 kids in our family and it is very hard to get them all in the same place at the same time and dressed up to boot! I plan on having the boys (and hubby) in black slacks with white dress shirts. I also have disney ties for all, I just have to figure out how to cut one down to fit my one 1 yr old. His twin brother has a small red Mickey tie already, but he's a bit bigger and I wanted a disney tie for him too. I could only find one in adult size. My 13 yr old DD and myself are wearing black dresses. Meg, the one who will be 9 on the cruise will wear her Minnie dress. I am looking forward to a nice picture if I can only keep my mischievious twins from making funny faces. I usually end up using a vacation picture for our Christmas card. Thanks for the info about the copyright release.. Melissa
