We leave a week from Sunday on the Wonder (April 29) and I wasn't even thinking to bring my daughter's princess dress until reading some threads on here. Will she really need her princess dress? I don't want her to feel out of place but I don't want to carry it all the way down there if she doesn't need it. I look forward to your replies.

My GD's always bring their "princess" attire for pictures with the princesses. I don't think it is a matter of necessity but sure makes a terrific picture.

"Need" just isn't the right word. NO she doesn't need it but will she wish she had it....YES! and I am willing to bet you will wish she had it also as the pictures are just priceless and there will come a day when she will never wear it again and that day will come quicker than you expect!

Then you see those who have every single princess dress going and spend most of their time running around changing dresses and chasing the next princess meet and greets.

I am sooo glad I don't have to deal with that!! I'm sure it's fun for some. Now one dress, that sounds cute.

:thumbsup2 ITA
We have the other problem -dd wants to wear her Princess Dress every night. Sure hope we can keep it clean and not have Mickey bars spill on it.

My DD said she wanted to wear her princess dresses each night. Well, we took 6 dresses and one pirate costume She wore, I think 3 of the dresses. She never wore them for long. Long enough to take a pic then she wanted them off so she could go to the club. Mine you, this was extra luggage (like we didnt have enough).

With that said, she was adorable, and I know next cruise she will be to old old to wear them. So, I am glad I have those pictures!

Forgot to say, I didnt try to change her for the pictures. She just put on a dress for diiner that night. If we saw that princess fine, if not fine.

how old is your DD? My DD is 7 now and Princess dresses aren't "needed" anymore, but I remember the days when we would go to the parks with all the dresses in tow! Take at least one along, she'll be glad she has it, esp when she sees all the other little girls wearing theirs!

For our dd6, we took one Belle dress for formal night and then an adorable Minnie dress from the Disney Store from Easter for semi-formal. We also took a pirate costume. She really enjoyed dressing up and many of the little girls wore their gowns (particularly on formal night). I just rolled all of her stuff into ziploc bags and still had plenty of room. I'm afraid if we didn't take one or two costumes with us, the temptation would be too much at the gift shop We still ended up getting the Minnie sailor suit dress. :rolleyes1

The pictures are priceless. We have one of her with Cinderella which is amazing. She also loved how people referred to her as "Belle" all night.

I'm in trouble for this year's cruise... she wants to bring MORE costumes! Ugh!

My DD's 2 and 4 would live in their princess dresses if they could. I took out all the infant ones I had the other night to list on EBay and the little one had a fit that I wouldn't let her put them on, never mind they didn't fit!

It's all up to you, we are not ones who have them dress up to meet the princesses on the ship- we get enough of that at WDW, but DD wore hers to the club several times and even tried to sleep in them. I don't recall an over abundance of them in the dining room really, but maybe I am just not observant!

my dd7 wants to do the bibbddi bobbiddi boutique in downtown disney, so i figure that way she gets the princess dress and i ony have to travel with it for a short time.

I agree with the other posters, the dresses aren't needed but they're fun to have. My DD6 brought three dresses and her pirate costume with her on our 4 night cruise. She wore all but one of them. The night we went to Palo she ate in our room with her older brother and didn't think to put one on. She loved wearing her dresses, she kept them on after dinner when she went to the kids club. She's already talking about what she wants to bring on our cruise in 08. ;)

Thanks everyone for your responses. My DD is 5 and she doesn't even know we're going on vacation yet! I'm trying to keep my packing to a minimum since we are heading to WDW for 6 nights after the cruise. I refuse to do laundry while we're on vacation! LOL

She loves the princesses, loves to dress as a princess for Halloween but after that, the costumes get hung in the closet and are never played with again. We've been to Disney several times before so we do have plenty of pictures with the princesses. I think I'll just wait and see how much room, if any I have left in the suitcase. I don't know that she'll even miss it if I don't bring it along.

Thanks again!

We were on the Wonder in Oct with DD, 4. Before the cruise, we asked if she wanted to bring her princess dress and she said "NO!" Well, never listen to a 4-yr-old!

While in line on the ship waiting for pictures with the princess, DD looked around at all the other girls and then said to me, "I want my dress." We didn't have it. :sad2:

Bring it. Better to be prepared than regretful.

Michelle

I know wearing her princess dresses are a highlight for my daughter. Yes, she definitely thinks she "needs" them.

I say bring at least one....I bet she will want to wear it...they don't take up that much room.

Last week I was in London and we took a side trip to Windsor Castle and in line were two adorable little girls...one with her Sleeping Beauty princess dress on and the other with her Cinderella dress on. They looked so cute wearing their dresses to the Castle!!!

Everyone in line was commenting on how adorable they looked!!!

Thank goodness DS isn't into princess dresses, but if he were (and hopefully he'd be a girl in that case), he would probably have a major meltdown when he saw how many princesses were onboard, especially at dinner. If you anticipate that kind of disappointment from your daughter, then the answer would be yes, she needs her princess dress :)

I didn't mind taking the dresses at all. I figure, DD will only want to wear them for a few years and then, we'll be onto a new (possibly scarier  ) phase. ;) :lmao:

I asked my DD(3 turning 4 on our cruise) to choose 2 of her princess outfits to bring on our 7 night cruise.. so she's chosen snow white and cinderella Which is fine by me. She's our only baby  besides, this cruise is mostly for her to have a time of her life!

I don't think there's a need for it, but a "want" for it.. yes! princess:

DD was Lilo for Halloween last year and on our December cruise I brought the costume along to see if I can get a picture of her with Lilo & Stitch. I'm so glad I did. Those were some of the best pictures from our cruise!!
