Princess cartridge on little bug

Has anyone used the Princess cartridge with the original Cricut? I was in Michaels today and all of the cartridges were on sale for $44.99. I grabbed Doodlecharms and then asked if they had the Princess one (it wasn't on the shelf). When she brought it out from the back, I decided to buy it. Now I think I remember someone saying that you really need the larger machine because the pieces are too small with the original one. I'm not going to open it until I am sure that I can use it.

I haven't tried to make a princess with it yet, but I have the Dreams Come True cartridge and I did make the Belle and Jasmine borders with the small bug. I cut them at 5" so the pieces were big enough to handle easily.

I just got my cricut and Happily Ever After cartridge. I haven't made a princess, but I did make a Mushu (size 5). My only problem was getting the settings figured out. I had to lower the speed all the way down to 1, otherwise it would snag the paper, and I had to play around with the blade and pressure settings to get the small peices to cut out right.

Thanks for the advice. I'm going to give it a few more days and then decide. I'm just not sure how often I would actually use it since my daughters are both grown and way past the princess stage.

I got "Happily Ever After" yesterday and I decided to try to make the Snow White where she is standing and holding the skirt of her dress. I set it at 5.5" and for the most part she came out okay.

I did do the trick of putting the correct color behind another piece. So I put white behind the eyes (and then colored them), and I put red behind the lt. blue for her sleeve. As long as you don't look at her too close, she looks fine. If I imagine her on a page, surrounded by pics and other things to look at, no one would notice. The tiny red pieces and eye pieces just wouldn't cut. Also I think it works better if you are using non-bazzill cardstock for the tiny pieces. When I cut just a thin cardstock in red, I managed to get a piece I could use. I think though, that because of the fine detailing a sharp blade is a must. I'm thinking about swapping out blades when I cut characters and then putting in an older blade when I am cutting a tag or other simpler shape.

I use both princess carts on my small bug. Some of the pieces are very tiny, depending on if the princess is standing or sitting. A sharp blade and a very sticky mat (so the paper doesn't slide) are a must!

Thanks for the advice! I think I will probably keep it, and I'll keep all these directions with it to read over when it starts to frustrate me. Although the kids are all grown up, I'm sure I will still use princesses in my Disney scrapbooks.
