Has anyone done the Princess Breakfast at Napa Rose and want to share their experience? We have a trip booked for October and originally planned on doing BBB for the little girls but one of them really isn't into dresses, fixing hair, or makeup. I know neither thing might be open but figured I'd ask.

If the Princess Breakfast is going we are going to try to get reservations. So far what I've read is the kids get an autograph book, pen, cinch sack and necklace. We loved BBB and feel like that's worth it for our family. Trying to figure out if the breakfast is worth the price tag.

My fingers are crossed that they open up the character meals soon!

*Disclaimer: I went with my friend and we don’t have kids. It was a girl’s day breakfast/brunch thing we did.

I did it the weekend it started and loved it. We saw 7 or 8 princesses I can’t remember since it’s been a while. The interactions seemed more intimate and slow paced compared to the ones in the park. It was well over 2 hours, so make sure you children can handle an event for that long. It has 3 different parts (parlor, meal, outdoor story time), so you aren’t sitting in one place for the whole time. I thought it was worth it. My friend that came with me isn’t a hardcore Disney fan, but she loves fine dining, also thought it was worth it.

I researched the breakfast for my 2020 trip, it seemed that the opening day(s) had more princesses than in later reviews.
If the breakfast does return, I would expect less princesses due to cost reduction (for the same price, of course 😉 ). My guess would be 4-5 princesses at most.

So just like the old $55 version.

No, as they are probably making a lot of profit on the very expensive version, I think they will do just less princesses, with the special food and some activities for the children, but not all.

I hope not. For us with less princesses it wouldn't be worth it anymore. Especially since all three of them have different favorites. The food did sound really good though.

That’s going to have to be an amazing food differential to support that big of a difference.

I’d be surprised if this came back. It was rumored to be cancelled before the pandemic.

We went in May 2019. We met three or four princesses at our table, then you do an “interactive” thing outside, then meet one on the way out. I think I wrote up a review at the time somewhere here…

Overall, it is a nice memory. My daughter still fondly talks about the fancy princess breakfast (we went for her 6th birthday). I remember the food being good (and the dessert tower made quite an impression on the girls). The princesses at our table definitely spent a lot more time with us than they did at the Ariel breakfast, and they were very well trained.

Having said that, it was not the kind of service/experience I expected for that price point. You’re supposed to meet a princess before you eat. We did not (and it was obvious because servers kept asking the girls who they’d met, which was no one…). There’s supposed to be complimentary champagne for adults in the lobby. I did not get that. I was served coffee at the table and asked for cream and sugar, and it took a loooong time and several requests to make that happen.

They have staff assigned to be your “princess handler,” but in spite of the fact that my daughter was dressed like Mulan and Mulan walked by our table and said, “I’ll see you later,” to her, we actually would have missed her last outdoor set if I hadn’t intervened. I went and tracked someone down, 20 minutes after we were done eating, to move us out back. That’s weird to me on a few levels.

Soooo, it’s a cool thing to do if money is no object, but our personal experience was not as luxurious as I expected. (They did drop the number of princess interactions after the bloggers/opening weekend, by the way.)

Im glad you chimed in. I did hear about the amount of princesses dropped, which is kind of a bummer. The experience of the 7-8 princesses made it worth it. As well as the long interactions. If they scaled it back with less princesses, I think it wouldn’t be as worth it. It is fun though!

We went for my birthday in February 2020. I enjoyed it but I don't know if I would ever go again because of the price. I used to go to Ariel's Grotto every time I had friends in town, I found that meal very reasonable. I think it's really sad that Disneyland got rid of that and opted for a VERY expensive princess option instead. Yes, there was more included (like the champagne, dessert tower, parting gift). But all I think about is that it's just TOO expensive to be the ONLY princess dining option.

It's $125 per person regardless of age. For a buffet... We spent over $300 for 2 people because we ordered cocktails. We met 5 princesses. And we had to ask for our parting gift.

I just kept thinking about how many families really wanted to take their kids to a princess meal but wouldn't be able to justify spending $500 or more. That $125 per person does not include tax or tip.

Even Cinderella's Royal Table in WDW doesn't charge that much and it's a sit down meal INSIDE the castle.

I mean, everyone has to make that choice themselves, whether they think $125 is worth experience of a princess breakfast. But it felt like a real insult that they got rid of a $65 dollar sit down breakfast in favour of a $125 buffet (with no discounted prices for kids or AP holders).

I felt from the beginning that if Disneyland wants to have a super expensive option for a princess meal, they should also offer a cheaper option as well, this way they don't exclude families.

I really hope they bring back SOME kind of princess character meal. We would happily have forked over the money for Ariel's Grotto breakfast every trip no matter how many were with us (and this is 6-14 people any given trip), but it is hard to justify the price tag and time tag for the Napa Rose princess buffet. Part of the issue is that not everyone in our party is necessarily super into princesses. I get that they need to provide the extra experiences to help justify the increased price tag, but quite frankly some people would be much happier with less of each. Sometimes less really is more :D

Having a luxury experience for people who want it is fantastic - I don't think they should eliminate anything, and personally I do want to go to Napa Rose for that at least once! I just still miss Ariel's Grotto and the specific experiences we had there. For me, it hit perfectly in the value department for our family. Would love to have an in-the-park option, possibly somewhere near the Royal Court, but logistically I don't know how they'd make it happen.

There just aren’t enough people willing to do this at that price repeatedly. But we did Ariel’s Grotto every single trip.

Yup - this is exactly it for us.

That said, I really hope they DO bring back this version - having a few 'once in a lifetime' luxury touches is great. I just also want the old Ariel's Grotto experience too. Seems like something they could fit into Fantasyland somewhere, but there aren't any TS places there. If they DID bring back an AG-style princess meal, where would you put it?

Maybe they could open Carthay Circle for breakfast/brunch and do a princess breakfast there! Probably would cost a bit more than Ariel's Grotto but way less than the $125 at Napa Rose.

Yeah I think Carthay (hosted by Snow White? At least there’s a tenuous connection...) or maybe WCT are really the only places with enough space. WCT is suboptimal though as it’s partly outdoors and doesn’t have good cover (thinking of how Plaza Inn has outdoor part but is basically totally hidden from outside guests by hedges).

Just not feeling Carthay for such an event, or really anywhere in DCA - its kind of the princess-free zone now 😅

Red Rose Tavern for breakfast as a family-style TS maybe? But that might be in too close proximity to the Plaza Inn Minnie breakfast. Hrm.

Plaza Inn actually used to be the resort princess character meal.

Just bumping this post - curious if anyone has tried the reopened post pandemic version of this and whether they still give kids the prizes - I have a boy and a girl who would have loved the ones they used to give!

I’ve seen it on IG. You now meet a few princesses outside, separated from you by these flower/vine things on the floor - none are walking around inside. There’s also still a storytime with a distanced princess. You pick from the necklace or a sword and shield at the end.
