I just found a Prince Charming costume on Ebay for ds (5) to wear when we go to Disney. I looked everywhere before our trip last year, but ended up only finding a Prince Phillip one.

I am pretty sure that dd's Cinderella costume will still fit her for our trip this year, however, I want to get her a different crown this year. Last year she had the one from the Disney Store, but it was too heavy and kept sliding down on her face, etc.. Anyone know where I might be able to find a cute little tiarra or something more comfortable for her to wear?

TIA for any help you can offer.
Carol

I know what you mean about the tiarras from TDS, my daughter had the same problem. I have seen tiarra's at Target, Walmart and Toys R Us in the toy section with the little girl dress up clothes. They look lighter.. Hope it helps!

p.s. also might want to try stores in the mall like Clare's...

at Clare's I believe. It is made of metal but is lightweight and comfortable for dd age 4. She loves it and loves that it is 'real' with 'diamonds' in it!

I just bought DDs Disney Princess tiaras for $4.99 each at Big Lots - they have lots of choices.

Also check out the Dollar Tree, a few weeks about they had ribbon covered rings with veils - they look lightweight and a nice alternative to a crown.

Party City sometimes has crowns/tiaras in their costume dept. Sometime you can catch them on clearance.

We have the WalMart versions here -- both the Aurora (pink) and Cinderella (blue). ToysRUs carries the same ones. Both stores also sell matching shoes, dresses, gloves -- you name it -- to go with it. They are light and my dd doesn't fidget with it at all.

Beware of crowns / tiaras that are done "headband" style, though -- they don't give and tend to be shaped such that they will pinch the head right behind the ears. Ouch. We got a bunch of these at WalMart (gold or silver with rhinestones -- I think they were a couple bucks) for dd's 4th birthday "princess tea party". THe best way to wear them was to have the girls pull their hair back or up into a bun, then slide the ends of the "headband" just under some of the hair so that the headbandsat on top of the head, secured by the hair (rather than putting the headband in its normal position vertically on the head, going from behind on ear to behind the other.)

Last year, I bought a very cute tiara at Disneyland for my DD, then almost 2 - I believe it was in the Princess Shop in Fantasyland. It was plastic with a comb to help hold it in place. It was also fairly narrow so fit my DD's head much better than some of the costume/toy ones we've found. This one was pretty generic, silver with no picture of a specific princess you so often see on the Disney crowns. As I recall, it was also very reasonably priced - I think less than 4 dollars including tax. Unfortunately, we somehow misplaced it on the way home (DD wanted to wear it to the airport). We got a similar tiara at one of the inexpensive costume jewelry stores that are so common in malls, Claire's, Icing, or some other like that. A year later and it is still in use in DD's dress up box.

I saw some rhinestone ones at Claire's on our recent mall outing. I was tempted to get one as they are metal and would probably hold up better than the plastic ones. I have to admit that I prefer getting things that are not always designed as toys since they're often sturdier (go figure). Also, I don't really like the little plastic picture of a princess found on the Disney line. I want my daughter to believe she is the princess so why would she wear a picture of someone else :p This is one reason why I'm also planning to make her a princess dress for our upcoming WDW trip so she won't question how she can be Cinderella when she sees Cinderella across the room :teeth: OK, really I do it for me as much as for her. My parents never had the money to do these things with 5 kids so I "make up" for it with my DD - but not to excess, really!!!
