Prince Harry's New Book... wow!

I'm not a fan of the royal family in any way, shape or form so I didn't watch the Netflix series and don't plan on reading the book. However I've seen people posting segments from the book that don't really make Harry look good IMO. Maybe I need the full context but this book just sounds like petty arguing between a bunch of out of touch wealthy people,.

I'm sure the media will give us more details than we could possibly want to know. when Harry moved out, Camilla turned his bed room into a dressing room. so what. It's not like he was using it. Did Harry want her and Charles to turn ye old bedroom into a shrine?

When our kids moved out I "repurposed" both their bedrooms.

I have summarized everything we know now in the other thread. And it is not the media, it has Harry who tells us way more than we want to know ;) #frostbittentodger

No, Harry authorized this book. They are his views, not the media.
I think repurposing his old room was pretty small potatoes compared to lots of other things he reveals. Assuming about 1/2 of it's true, it's still pretty shocking and frequently disturbing. He doesn't appear to be welI. I wouldn't be surprised if he ends up in rehab one of these days.

I didn't watch the Netflix shows and probably won't read the book, but i am not a H&M hater as so many here seem to be. I think they did the right thing escaping the toxic (for them) royal family. Not sure about all the moves since. Hope they find peace and happiness in the US.

Just saw Harry will be on with Colbert Tuesday night.

I am not a hater. I am just sad that Harry has decided to go this route. If you are not happy living as a royal, by all means get out for your own well being.

What I don't understand is why you would publicly bash your family in this process. What positive impact can come from this? I just don't see it. And don't say you don't want publicity and then actively keep yourself in the limelight. 🤦‍♀️

And I am very sad for the children. It appears the cousins are not going to get a chance to know one another. :sad1:

I just don't get why half of this stuff is in there. Half of it does not seem to give insite into being the spare of a monarch in a way that constructive. I.e, "Yes, that something that would suck to be in on a objective level', but instead stuff even the average family, if a member published the equivalent that Harry seems to have, would receive 'we really didn't need to know that' from the public.

There are some BOMBS being dropped in Harry's new book "Spare." I don't plan on reading it but it certainly is interesting to see some of what he's saying: William got physical with him, Meghan got in trouble for telling Kate she had "baby brain" because of her hormones, begging Charles not to marry Camilla...

Think there's any truth? Will you be reading his book?
No, I won't be reading this book or watching the netflix documentary.
It's funny how they claim they wanted out of the public eye, but they seem to crave being in the public eye more and more. And I don't like the way they are trying to dirty the family name. It comes out as vindictive and hateful. They are out of the family, so just get on with your life and don't bash your family.

I wonder what was in earlier versions. Apparently there was too much focus on mental health.

Because Harry is not the brightest and the people around him don't fully understand where he comes from, I have the feeling they were feeding him questions. "Did your brother and you ever fight?" "Yes? Good! Did it ever get physical?" "If I say William saw red mist, could that describe his mood?"leading him along the way in the direction they need the book to be.

I would bet that someone nudging him along would be Rachel Meghan Markle Mountbatten-Windsor. Just a hunch.😏

I realize Harry authorized the book. The media will analyze the interesting(!) parts -- ad nauseum.

I'll read it, I'm a sucker for biographies/autobiograhies but I'm not paying $30 for a copy, so I'll either wait until the library gets it or the price gets low.

No, I won't read it. I have little interest in the Royal Family. I think originally I felt for Megan as she endured racist comments and negativity, but as the months progress I wish Megan and Harry would keep their family business to themselves. The Netflix special and the book is over the top to me, but hey, people seem very interested so it is what it is.

The "Harry and Meghan Netflix documentary" thread was up to 59 pages and was locked on 1-12-23 at about 11:28 a.m. I am mystified as to why because it was not discussing religion, politics, covid or any forbidden topic and we didn't see any attacks going on. I didn't get any messages from Admin, points deducted or time out. I don't think I caused it to be locked. But, I don't know why, so I am unsure. So, I think it is okay to come here and revive the general conversation. If not, please delete.

We had moved to discussing Harry's book "Spare" and his book tour media interviews. We were last discussing DNA testing history, points he made in his book and the bigger story of the Sandringham Summit.

I think the "public" vs seeking "privacy" debate was misinterpreted from the beginning. Harry and Meghan complained about how they were treated in the media, but they do say they didn't leave to seek privacy as in isolation. They left a "public service" supporting job -- for the Queen's head of state position -- and exchanged it for their pursuits in the "private sector" where they would not be bound by the rules that apply to things like avoiding a conflict of interest. Their purpose was to be able to seek a wealth of hundreds of millions or even billion(s) by monetizing their status as royals. They were trying to build a commercialized brand based on their governmental/royal status.

Thanks, I hate unfinished business and I had a handful of newspapers reviews I wanted to summarize for those interested.

But shall we start with something lighthearted?
One of the inaccuracies in the book is Harry's claim that Meghan had bought a ticket for her father to fly from Mexico to London on Air New Zealand in First Class.
Only... Air New Zealand doesn't operate that route, and they don't have a first class cabin.

I love NZ for how creative they have been with their flight safety videos, but they are also cheeky with their Social Media :)
