I need some help. We're travelling to PEI and NS in July 2009 and would like to start planning our intinerary. I have been to the tourism pei website and done numerous google searches all leading me back to the same page. I am looking for some information on festivals and events going on throughout july 2009. could you all please help me?

Thanks
Allie

I'm assuming the site you keep finding is the festivalspei site? Most information would not be out for the public yet, but once I start hearing more, I can forward you some information. Usually in late June/early July Charlottetown has the Festival of Lights, which includes celebrations for Canada Day, concerts and a midway. There will be many different things going on all across PEI, but nothing is out that I've heard yet. Maybe in the new year they will have more information.

If you take a look through the pictures on the Festivals and Events page, you will get an idea of what will be happening. Most are annual events.

Good luck!

The only events that i can think of are in august. They have the canada games as well as the gold cup and saucer (exhibition and horse racing) in charlottetown.

I found that festivalspei site too but the tourismpei one is the one that everything is linked back too...I suppose I just have to be patient and wait until they publish the schedule of events but I am just really excited lol....

Even as you wait for the festivals and events, there are tons of things to research. Look up the Cavendish area (our very touristy area, mostly dedicated for things from Anne of Green Gables) and our beaches. The national park beaches you will have to pay to enter, but the other beaches are free. The north shore beaches are white sand, whereas most of the others have the red clay. It depends on what you are looking for to see what you can do as well. Try to take in a show at the Confederation Centre if you like that kind of thing. Here's a link to the 2009 shows:

I know how much us dis'ers like to look at pictures, so here is a site I found today, with a few pictures anyways. Google Earth sometimes has some pictures as well.

Have fun looking at pictures and planning.
