Primeval Whirl August operating schedule?

I just received an email from Disney Destinations saying they changed our FP+ for Primeval Whirl on August 27, 2015 due to "an unexpected change in the operating schedule." Does anyone know what's going on with the ride? I'm wondering if it's just a one-day thing, or if the ride will be closed down for our entire stay (Aug 22-30).

TIA for any input!

We're there Aug 21-27 with Fp+'s for it on Aug 27th too. No email .... yet! Thanks for sharing!

I hope it's not down!!! My kids love it and ride it at least 3x in a row (puke!). I can only take it once.

That's so weird that no one else has heard anything. I just tried again to switch my FP+ back and Primeval Whirl isn't coming up at all. It's one of my 8-year-old's favorite rides, I just wish I knew if it'd be running at some point during our visit.

Just tried booking a fastpass for primeval whirl for Sept and it wouldn't let us make that selection. I can't find anything about it. Does anyone know anything about it?

Do we have dates for when it's closing? The 27th is our AK day and the boys are not going to be happy if it's completely closed! Do you think they cancelled the FP just because there aren't as many "slots" with only one side running? Can only imagine what standby will be like!

Primeval Whirl will be going down for rehab in August and September. They will be closing one side down at a time to complete the rehab. So it will still be open, just running on limited capabilities.

Thank you for this info. It seems like it's been removed from FP+ during the rehab.

Same. Fingers crossed!!

Ugh - we're going to AK on 8/31 and 9/4, and they cancelled our Primeval Whirl FPs for both days. I am so disappointed to hear there's a refurb (though happy I guess that it's not fully down). Standby's gonna suck.

So, to summarize. There is nothing catastrophically wrong with the ride or it would not be operating now. Yet, Disney waits until it's within some guests' fastpass window to announce the ride closure. Seems to me that, with a little planning, Disney could have scheduled/announced this refurb more than 60 days before the closure date so that it would not impact people's fastpass selections.

I received the same email and I called and was told it will be completely down until the end of Oct.

If I am on the Primeval Whirl page on Disney site, it has no schedule listed for August 17 and 18 (my AK dates) but does show operating hours for the 16th. I would plan on it being completely down from August 17th through November 12th.

Wow. So, no Primeval Whirl at AK, no Pirates of the Caribbean or Liberty Tree Tavern at MK, no Maelstrom at Epcot, and no Animation Academy at HS. There will be quite a few attractions missing from our plan compared to our past trips.

I had a small panic reading this thread until I checked my plans. FP for Whirl for the family on the 16th... whew... just made it. DD's love this ride.
