Prime time or Mama Melrose

i love the menu at PRime time, but hoping it is as tasty and good as it sounds. What are your favorites here?

My DD loves italian but our only restaurants at home (Canada) is East Side Marios, how would it compare?

We originally did not book Mama Melrose's for our trip last month. We added it on a whim as a replacement for another restaurant. We are sooooooo glad we did. It was one of the best meals the entire two week trip.

I got the sirloin:

Charred Sirloin Steak - gorgonzola butter on roasted red pepper polenta, grilled asparagus and red wine reduction $20.99

I believe DW got the chicken parmesan:

Oven Baked Chicken alla Parmesan- over spaghetti $16.99

(I'd ask her to make sure, but she's sleeping).

Both kids got the pizza, one cheese and one pepperoni.

We were seated very quickly, even with a last minute ADR. The service was excellent, and the food was to die for, excellent taste for the polenta and sirloin.

We like 50's PT, but compared to MM's, it just seems kinda plain.

I vote Prime Time. We did not enjoy our meal at MM at all. very disappointed. Plus you get a little show with your meal. It lifts your spirits.

I prefer Prime Time. MM is okay, but I think PT is a lot of fun.

I like to get the fried chicken, but I've never ordered something there that I didn't like.

I vote Prime Time, too. We get the Pot Roast and the Fried Chicken. YUM!!! That place is a must do for us every trip!

I work at East Side Marios and have eaten at Mama Melrose. It was absolutely delicious! Many of the menu items were similar but everything we ate was very very good. The bruschetta was he highlight for sure. You can see pictures if you check out the Food Porn IV thread.

Unfortunately the same could not be said for our service but I think it was our particular server. He actually told us he hated working in restaurants and was hoping to be moved soon! But the food was so great we are going back again on our next trip.

Where abouts are you in Ontario???

Love both places but Prime Time is a must do every trip.

I would vote MM. The food is good, not great, but very good. The atmosphere was nice and the service once we were seated was great.

Dh and I love the pot roast at PT, but it can be a little annoying there.

Things always change though - I am sure you will have a fun time no matter what you select.

I'd say Mama Melrose's in a heartbeat!!

The service that we have received at PT two out of the three times we went there (three strikes and you are out) was very poor, DH's pot roast was mostly fat, they brought out the wrong desserts and my food was semi-warm. We also asked our waitress for some bread and she informed us that she could bring us some but would have to get it from Hollywood & Vine (evidently they share a kitchen) and even though we said "Ok, thank you" we never saw the bread. We saw our waitress a total of three times - once to take our order, once during the meal when she brought out the wrong desserts, and when she delivered the check.

At Mama Melrose's we've always had superb service and our food has always met and exceeded our expectations. MM is now on our must do list and PT is on our never do again list.

We ate at MM's our first two trips with DS (2004 & 2005) and haven't been back since. We just weren't 'thrilled' with our meals there. Just okay for us.

50's Prime Time is a favorite. DS and I love the Pot Roast, DH the fried chicken. And the S'Mores dessert is really good!
