as a recent traveller to international drive and disney we are very concerned about the changes to the beltz known now as prime outlets. can anyone give me any views on it please. we will be arriving 2nd sept... :thumbsup2

I live not far from the Prime outlets. And work not far from them too.
Mall 2 is getting very sparce with the number of stores inside. But the surrounding area still has plenty of stores. That is where I do most of my personal shopping. (Besides Disney. ;) )
Rumor is that Mall 2 will be razed with an outdoor mall built in its place.

I think Belz has been in need of a refurbishment for a long time, I must admit that it is several years since we have been.
In my opinion it has been overtaken by many other excellent shopping malls in Orlando over the years.

Prime Outlets are in the process of completely rebuilding each part of the Old Belz complex, but they will do it piecemeal, so much of the mall will remain open at any one time. They will start (we believe) with the old Mall 2 later this summer, and then work their way around until the whole of Prime Outlets is remodelled in a way that will make them pretty unrecognisable. It is an ambitious process and the total investment will be around $250million, so expect this to become one of THE major shopping centres in central Florida.

We went last summer and it really was a waste of time there was more closed than there was open.
If they intend to spend so much money on it i would certainly go back when it was finished, we loved to go for a chill out day away from the parks.

When we've been there's not been much there, but the Disney Outlets there are the best in Orlando I've found.

We really like kb toys, disney outlet, osh kosh, gap and timberland at the prime, hope theyre still there this year

We like the disney outlet store

Well that wasnt there 2 weeks back Im afraid to say, unless I missed it.

We went there and started at the furthest mall, which had the character outlet, the knife store, and the vans store......it also had osh kosh in the corner. Unfortunately all of those stores had gone, and there were only maybe 6 stores left in the whole of the place. The food court had also gone.

A walk accross the car park to the next mall was more productive however, it was about 95% populated.

Thats a shame, i love the Disney outlet stores. Beltz as it was known last time we went is overdue a makeover, it hasn't changed a bit in the 8 years i have been and was started to get very 'tacky'. I havn't been since 2003, can aqnyone tell me if there are any other Disney outlet stores nearby?

Does anyone know if there is another Vans outlet anyhere in Orlando? I know there's a Vans store at Festival Bay but I believe its all full price goods. The store at Belz was ridiculously good value and Belz was worth a visit for that alone. Bought 4 pairs of Vans shoes last trip and got change from $100 !

Pretty sure there are no more in the Orlando area I am afraid.

Right now the big store is closed but the little store is still open. They are rehabing the building with the big store. Disney will reopen and it might be a large store combining both stores. That is still not 100%.

There is a brand new Vans factory outlet store in the first bit of Pr1me Outlets, the bit thats pretty much directly over the other side of i drive. We went there about 2 weeks back, and it had only been open 3 days. They still had a dial up modem for credit card verification as their broadband hadnt been fitted. The building is I think, where the Casio factory store used to be.

Its much the same as the Belz store, very cheap, and I bought a fair bit from there.

DH & DS are both keen on Vans but I'm not sure where the new building is. Is it still at the top of I-Drive near one of the Mall Annexes?

Festival Bay is about half a mile past Wet n Wild on your right (heading towards belz). There is a full price Vans store there. Pull out of Festival Bay back onto IDrive, and go straight accross to the shopping area right opposite on the other side of I drive, thats where the new discount Vans Store is.

And if your in Cheshire area, there was a Vans factory outlet at Cheshire Oaks last time I went.....expect to pay UK prices though.

Thanks for the info, Tron.

That would be the Prime Designer Outlet mall, another former Belz property and not to be confused with the Factory Outlet World which was the bit right at the top of I. Drive.
